Well dont call me dumb or anything but mabey when diablos soul stone was destroyed he returned to hell, and took his true form back, and mabey those 2 mouths/heads are the heads of the two demons ( Belial, Azmodan) who betrayed him. He put them their as punishment or something. Mabey the soulstone was a prison ment to hold the 3 on earth. And if destroyed it would allow them to return back to hel in their most powerful forms. So they killed 2 birds with one stone and corrupted earth and took over the world stone so they could return back to earth once they reclaim hell (after there soulstones are destroyed ) and then they have both hell and earth in which they can fight on. Donno just a thought mabey someone can add to my idea.
I believe, since the game title IS Diablo III, that Diablo will certanly make appearence. As for the demon from the trailer, it could be anyone. It could be Azmodan or Belial or one of the Prime Evils or someone totally new. I believe that it is Diablo in the trailer, but I will not say this for sure.
Concerning the meteor, I don't think that's Tyrael or any Angel. Since the destruction of the Worldstone, the barriers between the worlds have shattered, or at least Tyrael said so. This would be a perfect chance for Diablo to make his new appearence in Sanctuary. Despite the fact the meteor had fallen from the skies, it doesn't need to be an Angel at all. Perhaps Diablo manifested himself in the universe, and fallen to the same place where he was defeated for the first time.
Another proof of the meteor not being an Angel is the scene from the trailer, with two armored men. Look at the mountain side where the meteor crashed. It is totally ruined by its impact. Not to mention the red lightning from the smoke. That's very 'angelic', don't you think. This could also mean that there are more than one meteors. In the trailer you can see the armies of Hell marching, possibly away from the crash scene.
What do you think of that?
I think thats the mountain that had the world stone inside not where the meteor crashed. I think half the mountain side just blew off when the world stone exploded.
It kind of just fell apart in the ending sequence... There wasn't much of an explosion. But I guess Blizzard can do what they want with pre-existing lore.
1.Diablo had the soulstone in his head this may be conclusive evidence this IS IN FACE DIABLO but I can argue this, that marking is a bit weird because the soulstones looked a lot more rounded not trident looking but this is arguable
2.He does have 3 heads yes,but these are not really heads I've looked and looked it looks more like a magic living armor on that "Demon" this again is arguable
3.Diablo's horns are far from that elaborate I could argue though that his appearance may have changed a bit in 20 years because he has been in the Black Abyss for quite some time!
4.Diablo had never really had sideburns near his face (where his mouth begins sort of I can't explain) but it makes him look a lot better!
My attachment is the thing's I've listed I would really like to see this be diablo though becuase he does look cool and the same old diablo over and over is boring but then again his old form was cool too!
Think about it...
Whether it be his choice or not (in theory) A Prime Evil's form can always change. Mostly due to the fact of soulstones. Every Prime Evil in Sanctuary isn't in his "true" form. They all had vessels. In Diablo's case, our hero from D1. Baal--Tal Rasha. Mephisto--The leader of the travincal.(NOT Khalim. It's some other council member who's name I can't recall.) It's very possible that a human vessel would differ from his true form, and vice versa.
Now if my theory holds true, what would happen if Diablo were placed in an angel's vessel? That might answer the question as to why symbols on Diablo's head and the other angel/inarius/imperius artwork.

Cocytus
This is the deepest level of hell, where the fallen angel Satan himself resides. His wings flap eternally, producing chilling cold winds that freeze the thick ice found in Cocytus. The three faces of Satan, black, red, and yellow, can be seen with mouths gushing bloody foam and eyes forever weeping, as they chew on the three traitors, Judas, Brutus, and Cassius. This place is furthest removed from the source of all light and warmth. Sinners here are frozen deep in the ice, faces out, eyes and mouths frozen shut. Traitors against God, country, family, and benefactors lament their sins in this frigid pit of despair.
It says it here: http://eu.blizzard.com/diablo3/community/
"Overthrown" depicts a mighty barbarian atop the conquered Diablo, shouting towards the High Heavens in vicious triumph.
I think that the idea of heads or mouths is pointless at this point. the main thing is that this IS Diablo, what we expected in the first place (well, at least some of us did).
in the demonology book goetia (a real nonfictional book) asmodan, asmoday, asmodeus etc... is depicted as having three heads. blizzard seams to use real demon names and atributes from christian hebrew and babylonian demonology. so i have a strong feeling its asmodan. and here is a pic!
had someone read the divine comedy written by dante alighieri, when the main character of the book goes to hell he sees diablo with 3 heads one head to punish the most sinful person in the world i think blizzard had diablo based on that book

Could those 3 heads be the 3 faces of Diablo?

And the statue doesn't show the other heads so... Maybe the middle head is Diablo and the other heads represent two other beings he has combined with.
I know that has been suggested before, I've thought it for a long time.
Except in the picture you can see the back of one of his heads...
See where it's neck starts at the base of the head and the space behind it's head?
THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK!
I thought so also.
Maybe it'll make sense once we play the game.
THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK!
More like tentacles coming from his back then, but not heads.
That COULD be, but I think it's just as safe to assume it's extra heads. They may just be a part of his body also, it might not be any other demons.
I just find it funny they called it project Hydra, and now Diablo seemingly has more than one head appendage.

Yup it does.
