OMG... lol, i read alll three of them, there great books, well that was back about 3 yrs, but Legacy of Blood w/ Bartuc is my favorite b/c his way of brignigng peace is about the onyl real way you could do so
here was jsut a random thought i had htough it would never work for D3 but i thought it would be cool, your not hte person from D2, *with the world stone destroyed and hte balance distrubed the forces of heaven and hell are flowing into hte mortal realm the side of good and restore peace and balance into the world, or hte side of evil and reign terror over the mortal plane*

I guess it all depends if D3 will be another sequal or a prequel. If it's a prequel I can see you being a char who is oblivious to demons and angels and all that until the Sin War breaks out and you fight for the angels or something like that. But if it was a sequal I could see you either being the same char, or being one of the NPCs from D1 or D2?
Remember Izzy?.. and how he betrayed heaven and told the 3 about how to corrupt the stones?.. well thats not all he did. Izzual (we could say), was befriended by the smith at the hellforge. Izual and The Smith currupted the hellforge hammer, and when diablo's and Mephisto's soulstones were destroyed..they werent actually destroyed. Instead the souls were set free and combined into the hammer as one. Tyrael was in on it. He needed to make up a sob story about izual needing to be put to rest in order to find out if what izual was meant to do...had indeed been done. And when Tyreal heard (from your own d2 char) that mankind was doomed, Tyreal new izzy had succeeded.
You see.. Tyreal was demoted from the highest ranks of heaven before D2, because of his interference with the world at the binding of tal'rasha... Tyreal began to urge for revenge...and the power and respect he felt he deserved... And now that the world stone is destroyed, and he has Baal's Soulstone... all he needed to do was to travel to the Hellforge and wield the Mighty Hellforge Hammer, holding inside the powers of Mephisto and Diablo... All four of them, Tyreal, Mephisto, Baal, and Diablo, combined as one magnificant specimen of EVIL!.
Tyreal now rules hell, with his 2 Generals, Azmodan and Belial....
Nice idea tetgrind, much better than most I've heard. I dunno if I'd like all the evils "combined" as one, though. I'd like to fight each one individually
I was thinking the same thing...but I had trouble coming up with a way to do that without cop-ing out and coming up with some way of doing so without people in game going "man thats lame...they didnt even try".
I guess you could have a 3 phase fight...he starts as mephisto, then he morphs into baal...and then diablo and the tyreal as you fight him...that would be kewl i think.
Heres a little passage from one of the Diablo books
(Moon of the Spider) which takes place after the worldstone has been destroyed by Tyrial.
" In truth, he (Zayl the necromancer) could actually not be certain that the Worldstone had been destroyed, but the evidence was certainly there. Mount Arreat - where the legend claimed it had been hiddne - had exploded, its entire top ravaged. The destruction had been heard about even here in faraway Westmarch. More to the point, the rumous among those with the sight gave starker credence to the horrific claim. It was said that one of hte Prime Evils themselves- Baal, Lord of Destruction- had been the cause, and if so, the mortal plane was in for far worse to come. The Worldstone had existed since time immemorial, created, so the teachings of Rathma said(the necro prophet, mesiah or religion, i wasnt sure if Rathma was a who or a what) , to keep the mortal world protected. Now, both the powers of Light and Darkness reached out to fully claim humanity, and in their battles against one another the two cosmic factions threatened to destroy what they desired. Somehow , all that tied into Zayl's own urge to come to Westmarch. Somewhere in this vast kingdom, the repercussions of Baal's heinous deed would soon be felt. " (Page 19)
IMO - i think that the diablo 3 storyline will follow up from d2:Lod.
its not impossible to have a sequel to DII/LOD there are many plausible theories and ideas to consider
Storylines Major/minor -with the worldstone gone demons are more free to enter the world of sanctuary, this is how more powerful demon lords (act bosses of sorts) can come through -as both demons and angels can enter the others realm, I think more demons and angels should be present at the gates to each area, they are suppose to be lock in eternal combat, yet only one angel was in hell possibly fighting demons on their own turf -the last two lesser evil Belial Lord of Lies and Azmodan Lord of Sin elude us still -the eternal battle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells is still raging -the prime evils returning (or just diablo) without their soulstones as they arent needed for the prime evils to exist -something about Tyrael, is he corrupted? (Kinda been done before, a lot) is he banished from heaven? It may just be me but arent angels forbidden from major influences on mankind or something like that, I forget what it says in the text regards the lore of angels in diablo -Of course if tyrael is corrupted shouldn’t at least one of the seven player chars from d2 also be corrupted, they spent more time in the vicinity of the corrupted worldstone than tyrael did, and im not counting nightmare and hell, unless tyrael is corrupted thru having shards of the worldstone enter his body when he smashed it. -tie up any loose ends from the diablo series not that I can think of any right now but there is probably a few mostly to do with tyrael I believe -the angel inarius, he could perhaps be set free from his prison of mirrors to seek revenge on the prime evils or something -tie in with the diablo novels some how -something with Deckard cain is he still alive, he is getting old, but for some people it would feel like diablo without him. -some mention of the heroes of d2/d2lod, perhaps you could find part of there armor of course the set would have a name like Unknown Barbarian heroes…. or something -you could find out that cain is not the last of the horadrim, there is another, most likely an evil mage or sorts, you kill him then inform cain he once again is the last of the horadrim, cain has a wet eye. -if a playable char returns in d3 like the chars from d1 did in d2, have more of a storyline for them, not just the ‘oh xchar is now a monster I have to kill’ -several powerful demons that have been defeated in the previous games could make a return thru some kind of resurrection/summoning spell, similar to the one Baal used to bring the warlord of blood (bartuc the bloody) back to life -A civil war could break out in Hell, between Belial and Azmodan as they both vie for Ruler of Hell -If D3 is a prequel, you should be able to be involved in the Binding of the three, or the Sin War, or any other event in the diablo History, such as the Blackening of King Leoric (well maybe not that one thats a little recent compared to the Binding of the three and the Sin War) -D3 could be set a short while after the events of LOD and Hell has taken over and you must try to reclaim the World of Sanctuary and possibly Heaven.
some are more plausible than others but hopefully you get my point, there is something t owork with after LOD, i also included a few ideas for a prequel as that is possible too.
about Tyrael...one possible theory of mine is that all three prime evils are actually supposed to be like the four horseman of the apocalypse...except you are missing one...which could be tyrael in disguise...in which case it wouldnt surprise me cuz he destroyed the worldstone knowing full well that the three prime evils could come back...if the 3rd game is based on anything...it might as well be based on bringing the 4th horseman or "brother" to the three prime evils. you can also relate the three prime evils to the 4 horseman...you have war, pestilence, famine, and Death. the only one missing is war. Tyrael is most likely a prime evil in disguise...making every1 think there are only 3 prime evils. it makes sense to me that he would be evil and 4 horseman thing makes sense as well...tell me what you think.
A mystical dragon-like creature on a different realm than Heaven, Hell, or Sanctuary. I think the realm he is on is for the balance of all things. It was in the Sin War books

Trag'Oul is also mentioned a bit in the Diablo II manual. What's interesting abotu Trag'Oul, is that even he isn't entirely sure what he is.

i wonder if the heroes from d2 will become corrupted like the ones from d1 (blood raven, summoner, wanderer).
stumbling upon the necromancer, druid, amazon, etc in a huge fight that resembles the gauntlet at mount arreat (the ancients).

A number of the books on the first post of the third page (click the link) I have never seen while playing Diablo. Are they randomized?
