I don't get them often, but when I do, boy do they cost me big time! Over the last 4-5 weeks I've lost two level 50+ HC characters to minor, but fatal lag spikes. They always seem to come at the worst of times.
My question to my fellow HC players is as posted in the title. How do you handle lag spikes? Is there a secret to surviving them? or do you just hold on to your trousers and hope that you survive?
*edit: I'm just trying to get a feel for the best way to handle the situation.
I would advise you to keep attacking and trying to move in a direction where you're more likely to survive.
Sometimes even while you're stuck in a big spike, the server is still receiving commands, and when you're back the game plays all the animations of the things you did in that period (and if you have some lifesteal sometimes that's enough to not die).
Rubberbanding on the other hand is a whole different beast. Don't keep trying to move out from 3-4 scissoring arcane beams (I lost my Barb like that), the rubberband will make it so that you're hit multiple times by those. Don't panic and hold your ground, try to make very small position adjustments, and keep attacking the enemy.
I would advise you to keep attacking and trying to move in a direction where you're more likely to survive.
I think I've tried this on a few occasions but with minimal success. The problem is not knowing which direction is clear when you were slowly being surrounded by a giant pack of monsters.

In all seriousness... it's what I do

Does anyone know if the Alt+F4 trick still works?
