Last night, shortly after equipping my freshly dinged lvl 60 DH with what I thought was pretty darn good lvl 60 equipment from the AH with and amethyst galore, I entered the Keep Depths in Act 3 on Hell difficulty and got blown up by a single Fallen Maniac after walking through a doorway. I didn't see him before entering and he was camouflaged by a bunch of different demon types.
My dex was around 1000+ and vit was at 850. I am now discouraged because if my more-than-properly-equipped-for-Hell char can be destroyed by one tiny demon without much notice, it's not worth my time to play hardcore.
Like I said, after 250+ hours of softcore and 250+ hours of hardcore with extensive AH use and equipment knowledge, my char got blown up by a single fallen maniac on HELL although he was equipped with proper gear. I can't imagine what Inferno would be like.
If you died in one shot in hell difficulty, you weren't geared as well as you thought you were. I'm not trying to be rude, but that's really the only explanation. Without any +Life % gear, 850 vitality is 29,750 life at level 60. That's hardly anything. What were your armor and resist values?
It's okay. When my monk died in HC, I was somewhat distraught (although it was completely my fault since I got cocky and decided to charge into a bunch of Jailer-Molten-Teleport elites with Serenity on cooldown). But I revived her with the same name in softcore so I didn't feel so bad for her death afterwards. Will visit HC again.
No one's telling you to stick to one mode. It's great to switch modes for a change of scenery (figuratively) and get a different feel of the game.
Sc is not nearly as exciting as hc for obvious reasons.
Auction house on sc is broken Imo for 2 reasons. 1...the rmah. 2....and less talked about is that gear is never destroyed. This may sound like a good thing at first glance, but in my opinion, I think what that does is makes it hard to find gear that's worth selling anymore. Only the lucky and people with really high paragon levels have a clear advantage ah wise.
I only play sc for testing purposes. If I want to try a drastically different build or see if a certain goon is ready for an encounter or Mp level, I will try it on sc and see how it works. Otherwise its just kinda bleh ....boring
Had 3 WD death with the highest at 55, made me more determined. The forth was a Monk progressing through Inferno Act 2 and the game just hung on me and I guess I don't to say what's the outcome.

Please talk me out of quitting hardcore.
