The old woman was sitting by a sitting by a small fire, several young children had gathered around her.
“for her they kill and maim, the heads of their victims they bring back. Children eat the trolls.” The old woman said.
“The Children eat the trolls?” asked one of the children.
"Bah!! an idiot you are!" said the woman.
“From out of the dark waters come they, on the surface dance evil flames... Oh? Children, leave now you must!! Visitors have I”
“We believe there to be some truth behind that story of yours, we seek your counsel, madam” said Kathis.
“Truth behind the story there is. My counsel you seek, we or he? Step forward wulfgar, closer” said the woman.
“you know me?” asked Wulfgar.
“Ears have I, warrior says the wind, chieftain says the rain. But why seek you me? Met you your match? Met you your match with the trolls.
“we seek your wisdom” Kathris said.
“Wars in the will are won. Perhaps been fighting in the wrong field you have” said the woman.
"The way they show you, not see you will. Slaughter them till you rot, accomplish nothing you will," she said, "Find the root you must, strike the will."
"How?" asked Wulfgar. “and what can you tell me about this”
Wulfgar relayed the idol of the troll from Kathris to the woman.
"The mother of the trolls this is, she they revere. The will she is," she said.
"She is the will? Where do I seek her?" asked Wulfgar.
"The earth she is, in the earth seek her," she closed her eyes. Wulfgar sighed
"And Wulfgar," she called as he walked away. "Of their warriors beware the leader, the horns of power he wears, him you too must kill. Send him to fight the rabble she does not, for a worthy foe saves him "
