The cap will be closing in on 80 very soon and I'm wondering how long it will take for those hardcore players to make it to the top. My guess it's going to take at least 3 or 4 days, perhaps even 2 for those crazy players who play 24 hours straight. Any ho.....I want to know something from the wow players here.
How long do you think it will take you to go from 70 to 80?
I have a little something up my sleeve that makes me confident to say 3 for me;)

i wont manage to get so many days off work at that time, naturally, so i'll just go slow. Probably with a Death Knight at first, so it should take a while. From 55-80 i'd expect to around 3 weeks minimum (with my lack of time). My mage from 70 should be easier (around a week without rushing).
THE hardcore players should be around 3 days as Diablo Fenatic mentioned (it was like that in TBC too). The rest from 4 days to a week.
Well, a lot of people are gonna be making a Death Knight right away, so our current mains might be put on the backshelf and become our alts. i'm thinking i'll get about a 4th of a level a day or slower. there will probably be so much to do other than leveling to distract me that i'll never even make it to 80, lol

Stay.
You don't always know where you stand,
'Till you know that you won't run away.
There's something inside me that feels...
Like breathing in sulfur.
most people will stay to their mains and/or level a Death Knight as an alt after the main reaches level cap. Its like that in my guild too, only 4 people are considering making a Death Knight as main, me included. And i'm not 100% sure yet.

I could see it happening from 3 days to a week. I could probably see those crazy Koreans making it in 2 days. (They are too good at gaming...)

Because at 70 it costs a shit load to repair. My friend's guild bank went from 2k to 0 in a matter of 2 days after the 3.0.X patch came into effect.

I was planning on making a Death Knight when it comes out but I also planned to have 55 before the expansion. As it stands thats a good 17 levels. Thats over a level a day. I get anywhere from a level a day to a level every other day. So I plan on making a Death Knight later on.
imagine my problem
i got 5 characters at 70.. mage, warrior, rogue, paladin, hunter. And i want to get them 80 too (Well, maybe not the hunter). Death Knight also looks extremely cool and i'm considering making him my main.

I MAY start back up again...once i downed KJ I promised myself id nvr play it again....but damm.....more raiding is soooo tempting I might be rushing to 80 now
Aren't all gold incoming mail monitored now and have to be okay'd?
Anyway no one is going to be rushing anywhere if they don't get the realms back online. I'm only lvl 63 I need to level!
No you meet up with a guy and he gives you the gold.

Those guys who get from say, 60-70 in two days seemingly is actually a guild effort. Here is how the procedure goes:
1. Serious guilds have a few people who enter the WoTLK beta
2. They study the beta and map out the most optimized plan for power-leveling.
3. Sit outside of the store at the witching hour and buy the game ASAP.
4. Organize time so that people play one character in shifts. I play for six hours, then my guildmate, then another guildmate.... That's 48 hours of solid power-level play without having to strain one person to lose sleep and concentration.
5. Organize a couple of body-guards to prevent cross-faction feuds which can slow things down, especially around times like launch dates.
it was released yesterday in Europe (13th November) with the accounts being able to be activated at around 21:00 CET on the 12th.
I started a Death Knight at exactly 00:00 and right now i'm lvl 64 (starting level is 55). The highest level at the moment on Alliance is 75.
the extremely hardcore people do what Dimebog said, but to do nr. 4 it means they only focus on the realm first that only goes for 1 character. What guilds mostly do to power level is they do dungeons on peak hours and do the quests at late night when most people arent online.

Now can paladins fit dps role and are dks better as dps than paladins?
