I felt the urge to play WC3 again today. And I figured to get myself back into the groove I'd make an easy map so I could build, find out what's good, then plan a strategy for defense so I won't need the map anymore. As I was setting up a water barrier so the computer wouldn't be able to get to me for a good while, I remembered something that always bothred me about the game. Why doesn't Warcraft 3 have a navy? WC2 did and it was great. Navy is my favorite type of unit construction. If there is a navy and I just am too stupid to know how to make it(which is unlikely because I used to play frequently and I've built every building available) then tell me. But I just wunna know if anyone else misses the ol' navy
Be nice if you could play as the Naga as a main race. (Its playable in one or two missions in the campaigns.) Just about all there people are land/sea.
But yea, there are Human ships and Orc ships. Which is wierd, because you gotta buy them from merc shipyards...
There are ships for all the factions, but you can't buy them regularly.
However, if you're building a map, you can always just create a custom shipyard, give it to your faction of choice, enable that factions builder to build it, put some ships in there, and then you have naval battles.
Of course, that won't work against the computer, since the AI won't recognize the building. But against human players it's entirely possible to have a navy.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
The alternative thing to do would to edit what buildings a "peasant" can build, and add in that races shipyard.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Kinda like mercenaries... It sucks, I know...

sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."

Then you could also write up some new AI's (Or edit some exsisting ones) that would allow the AI to build and make use of shipyards...
