Um, yea then you both won the war. America and Russia were on the same side. If you're talking about how many troops you lost for how well you did. Then Canadians win. We did the best on D-Day on the second hardest beach.
And yes, the Russians were horribly equipped, but they were after all the Allied nation who made it to Berlin.
That's the problem with Russia. While it's peace time, the condition of their army is horrible. The soldiers are unfed, sick, losing sexual organs, whatever, certainly not in a fighting condition. Then, after they finally get attacked, the suddenly put all army generals in prison for keeping the soldiers in such a dishonorable state and enlist new generals, and, suddenly, we have a fresh highly patriotic, cruel, skilled, young army ready to raize whatever is coming whether it's Germans or w/e. And we get all these engineers on tracks to get the new equipment for us. And after we do win, we can't stop and we just go on and try to conquer the world if we don't understand soon enough that it is not possible. That's why Russia is scary, it's like this crazy beast who is either afraid of fire or suddenly gets berserk on it...
Anyway, I dunno who put more effort into the war. Everyone helped, of course, and there may have been problems if there was no Russia just as there may have been problems if there was no America. I don't care who won the war. We all did and why can't we just fucking share this world instead of trying to tear it apart... if people say God bless Russia or God bless America I say God bless the world...
Your first point could be applied to the US as well. I mean look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Taking out two countries for no reason. It doesn't seem necessary to me. And Russia was only a crazy beast during the cold war. Which US was always trying to beat them in it.
But I'm not saying Canada doesn't have its problems towards war either. We say we're a peacekeeping country and yet we seem to be helping to break the peace in Afghanistan.
Wow, thats deep Equinox. I wish I was in the same plane as you, but I guess I'm not at the point where I love another country more or as much as this one. And Russia deserves some credit, but not all. Remember that Hitler was putting it to Stalin until he kicked Stalin out of the bed and invaded Russia. Only then did Russia fight back, and it was because of Stalin that tons of his army died as he wanted Hitler's head. So America and Britain fought slower into Germany to save lives.
But as you said, that doesn't matter, of who won or not. If not for the US good would have lost. So ya.
Actually without the U.S. there was great potential for "good" to win anyway because even before the U.S. joined the fighting Britain were beginning to push the German African corp. back, not totally, but were winning the fight in Afric and were getting ready to invade Europe and the Germans would never take Britain because they had a way bigger navy. It would have taken alot longer though without the U.S. We can thank Japan for getting the U.S. to help us out.
(Sorry, I think my thought are a little jumbled up in that paragraph.)
Only then did Russia fight back, and it was because of Stalin that tons of his army died as he wanted Hitler's head.
The primary reason people died is because they were not ready and not equipped. Stalin had almost NO INFLUENCE on the mobilization. When it came to war, he was a total idiot. Yes, he sent people on guns because he was an idiot but we would not win just because of that and that is not where the majority of the losses came in, they came in from the civilians and stuff. We won because of all those generals that erupted and started training the new army. MOREOVER. Stalin WAS the reason army was so unprepared because he was killing anyone who could potentially plot against him, including skilled generals and engineers, so we ended up having nobody...

And yes I agree god bless the world.
I'm going to disagree with you HEAVILY. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO GO INTO IRAQ???!!!
Lemme teach you something about Iraq before we went in.
Hussein had raped, killed, and terrorized the people of Iraq for 20 years.
He had around 40 of his own relatives killed.
Documented chemical attacks by the regime, from 1983 to 1988, resulted in some 30,000 Iraqi and Iranian deaths
Human Rights Watch estimates that Saddam's 1987-1988 campaign of terror against the Kurds killed at least 50,000 and possibly as many as 100,000 Kurds
Over the past five years, 400,000 Iraqi children under the age of five died of malnutrition and disease
Over 9,500 prisoners were executed, 23 politcal figures were political figures, and over 130 women were beheaded publicly.
And from a special done on the History channel I saw, there weren't any weapons of mass destruction as we thought when we went in. HOWEVER!! Hussein behaved as if he did have such weapons and was trying to hide them.
Now tell me, we didn't have to go in? And Afghanistan is harboring the mastermind behind two of our towers falling.
You are ignorant if you thought we should have left Iraq alone.
Have you seen Russia? They weren't equipped because they live in a massive country and they had no rail road system at that time. Not only did they not have the means to transport their arms but they didn't have the means to even make the arms in the first place. Why is there such a dispute about this in a thread about WoW?
Ok I was typing before I saw Carlos' post and I agree, Sadam was a nut job. However, Iraq had nothing to do with us going into the middle east in the first place. He was a whole different story and by taking him out of power all we did was throw them into a civil war or "sectarian(sp?) violence" whatever you wish to call it. Now the U.S. is stuck policing a nation and building up enough debt that we're going to get thrown into another depression. That part of the world has been completely unstable sense the fall of the Ottoman Empire and Sadam, although malicious and insane, brought more stability than we did. I'm happy he's out of power but we threw them into chaos and are doing nothing to fix it. Now there's talk about going into Iran. For what? I don't know why we would got but I tell you if we do then that country Equinox is griping about(Russia) is gunna kick our asses because they are the ones giving them the means for their nuclear technology. Plus, if Iran does get a nuclear missile what will they do? Throw it at us? They can't get anything strong enough to get it all the way around the globe without us taking the missile out first. And if that day does come THEN we go into Iran and we will have people to back us up. If we go in now our Allies will say "No, this is your fight, we don't support you without evidence."

Oh, another "I know everything about a country I never lived in".
Firstly, most of Russian people and workforce and w/e is located in certain cities. The rest of Russia, especially Siberia, is just wasteland. People may live there but they don't contribute to much anything. So they really didn't need a railroad system. Not that much movement back then.
They had means to make arms they were just in a kinda recessionary state so they lacked supplies and stuff so we got more soldiers than rifles. After the country mobilized it became normal. If the country did not have the capability they wouldn't mobilize like that.
There is such a dispute in a thread about WoW because WOW discussions are boring and because nobody moderates this forum.
To Carlo/winston
can we stay without an Iraq conversation? I can't participate in an Iraq conversation.
I'm talking about when WW2 was going on. Study history! They didn't even have a railroad system. If they can't make locomotives then I doubt very seriously they can mass-produce arms for the TONS of people they had in their army.

It's your problem that you doubt something. The mobilization of USSR was huge. They got the electro trains later when they needed them. The existence of railroads is not enough of a factor. I've never heard anyone say "Russians were severely damaged due to bad transportation."
Kinda... yea... and I'm bored with the low post count on this forum and Nival forum hates me because they say I'm a Russian-phobe...
as in you're scared and/or racist against Russians?

Equinox, how are you a russian-phobe?
yes i was wondering that myself.
and i guess you can also consider the fact that us WoW fans shouldnt really give this threads actual topic too much attention since it is just some kid calling us pathetic because we play World of Warcraft. when in all reality i think he's just made cuz his allowence isnt enough to pay the monthly fee. has anyone actually read the first post of this thread. were a little off topic. but thats ok....

Whitehouse.gov is where I got this info.
Since Hussein fell, there have been a reported 270 mass graves reported. Human Rights Watch estimated 290,000 people dying during the regime.
Heres the link to that

Because there shouldn't be one here.
