dont people "powerlevel" to 80 in a day in Diablo 2? where's the fun in that?
the thing is that everyone finds different things interesting. For example, some people in Diablo 2 liked pvp most, so they powerlevel some chars (or have some powerleveled - gold/item/character selling started there i'm afraid). In most MMORPGs the end-game content - thats the game content after u reach the level cap - is the most interesting part. So they have chars powerleveled or bought. Most serious guilds dont take such players as members ofc. Its part of the game to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each class through leveling. Point is, it happens in every game and pretty much destroys it. But aslong as there are people that actually do buy the "services" gold/character sellers provide, its not the game to blame, but only those people.
Also a lot of people say: 'Today I MUST get to lvl (for example) 50'. That are signs that people don't play for fun but actually are addicted to it.
Oops, that would be me
But a lot of people do that. "Just one more level, then I quit for today." I still enjoy it though, and so long as that's the case then I'll continue to play that way.
On the other hand, I can't buy WoW because of my internet connection and lack of money.
WoW requires very little bandwidth, so any connection can run it. But if a lack of money is also the problem then there isn't much to do.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

WoW doesn't really have a big storyline like Diablo has - It's only little storylines like ''wolves are attacking villagers, kill 20 of em and i'll give you a reward''. Back to the quote: I play rpg's to see my character developing and follow the storylines and a lot of people don't play WoW to see there character develop: they mostly want to be the best, what is impossible. This is the problem of MMORPG's and the reason why MMORPG's don't really work for me. I can play it for a few hours, but get bored in a few days, except when friends play with me. That's why I rather have Diablo 3 as an rpg and not as an mmorpg, so with not too many little quests, but with big
storyline(s).
I have to completely disagree. Azeroth is such a detailed world that Sanctuary doesn't have anything on it, and WoW has done a lot for that evolution to come by.
As for killing wolves, I doubt that a lvl 1 guy (who's never wielded a weapon in his life) would be able to take anything but the smallest things (like kobolds). Talk to a lvl 70, and there's a lot of story behind the quests. The player, while not changing the world, gets to see Azeroth evolve as he plays.
Opening the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj. While it can be argued whether that was fun or not, the fact remains that the players got first-hand looks on completely new areas, races and histories part of Azeroth. Everything pulls the story on in WoW, it just goes slower in the beginning.

the storyline between such major events as Phrozen mentioned:
-The Opening of Ahn Qiraj and the War of the Shifting Sands
-The Scourge Invasion and the War of the Plaguelands
-Black Temple and the conspiracy against the Betrayer (to come with the next concent patch in 2-3 weeks)
i've actively worked on the quest chain of the Opening of Ahn Qiraj and the quests are simply amazing. The story is full of twists and ofc it takes whole guilds to work if not whole factions. But u dont need lvl 70 to get to see good stuff, it starts even at 40-50 with some elite quests. Reading the quest texts also helps to notice there's also some story behind the "kill x mobs and the y named mob and get his horn".
as i said, there are stories before you get to see the major opponents in the game. Most instances have stories too. You got to kill the boss of a gang of thieves that causes trouble to the humans of Stormwind for example (The Defias Brotherhood), have to help the guard stop the prisoners that took over the prison in Stormwind (Stockade). Also the new races have awesome quest lines from the expansion (1-20). In general there are awesome quests around for every level if you care to look.
Dont forget that u get some crappy quests too like "cleanse the Den of Evil".
Developing your character always has u start low (kill Fallens, Bears, Boars, Kobolds etc) and as u progress u get to see the good stuff. Since u like to make ur char awesome then u should really try it if u can afford it. Especially with the expansion.
Ok, there is a storyline that is amazing, but at lvl 50-70. Before lvl 50 there isn't much to do that is really amazing, except a bit of warsong for example. Diablo's storyline starts at lvl 1
That comes from the fact that you are the only driving character in Diablo, there is no one else.
WoW gives the illusion of actually being a living world in which you are nothing more then another warrior amongst many. Everyone can't save the world, and they certainly can't do it at lvl 1.

in an MMO only one man (or woman) can't save the world. You're a hero, but you must be a part of a team to succeed. thats why its Massively Multiplayer Online RPG and not simply RPG
Lol, your a smartarse phrozen. And I have actually contemplated buying WoW. I mereley hate it because I can't afford the whole P2P thing.
DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I try as best I can, sometimes more successfully than others
If you're low on money though, you could just stop watching TV. You won't miss it, I guarantee.

I live in the U.S. and I have to pay for television. Unless I'm willing to get an antennae for my t.v. and have only 12 channels or so.
