Is there any way to change the difficulty your playing on? I started on normal and its way to easy :(...also is there better gear drops on higher difficulties?
Eh, that's a shame. It annoys me that even big companies don't publish their games to work on Linux. I'm sure even most of the developers use it from time to time...

Porting a game to a Linux is not that hard. Porting a game to a Linux with protection on it, though...
Although... Torchlight... protection... *looks at the NFO database* *snorts*
What is that retire thing...? Will i lose my character if i retire?
Yes, but you can 'bequeath' an item to your 'descendant' (most people go with necklace/ring or something with a low level req) which will get a nice stat enhancement. This new character will also have access to the endless dungeon on the east end of town (as you should with your post-O character).
Yup retiring you'll lose your character but you get a heirloom for a new character or something. And some other benefits. I wanna say more stats/skills.

Okay so I just retired my character.
You pick one item to pass down it can be any item.
The item gets a real nice stat boost but it's requirements stay the same, so be forewarned. It may be better to use a low level item or something.
Also make sure everything you want from that character is in the shared stash or else it'll be gone.
be careful with the enchanting it can backfire and remove all bonuses
Never happened to me... thats weird. I use enchant only on weapons, and i keep doing it on the same weapon until the point when the next enchant costs like 4-5k and im out of cash.
Thanks for the info other players are sharing, this is a very helpful thread
I've got my coffee and about to sit down and play Torchlight to wake me up.
Going to do this endless dungeon everyone keeps talking about.
Also, if nobody has figured it out yet.
For those of you that are worried about monsters not respawning in certain areas - just buy a scroll at the Gem Sellers shop which opens a portal to kill mosters. They're not very expensive.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
I hope that's a joke. I was skeptical about auto stats at first, then I started to understand (although i would prefer they are not auto) that it really isn't a good mechanic. This games stats are a no brainer. Basically your an idiot if you don't do it the right way haha. I mean, I love customization, but i honestly believe that Blizzards new customization technique (undisclosed) in addition to that of which we already know, will be better then that of DII's. And that my freinds is MIND BLOWING!

Those last floors are a bitch. The boss is a even bigger bitch.
It was talking about unlearning the spell scrolls that you pickup.
