would u rather compete against urself or a big company.. if they release them both they will have a 123 finish in game sales thus securing them as the largest single gaming company... wait they already are lol... ok it will make them bigger
darkjay - It would defiantly be in Blizzard’s best interests not to compete against themselves - after all that would only hurt their own sales. By releasing both Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 at the same time they would be forcing a good number of customers choose between the games as most would not buy both at the same time (except for those hardcore fans:)). If and when either of theses titles are released - they will surely dominate the sales charts for quite a while, by releasing the games at separate times with a bit of a breather in between blizzard would be securing a much more lengthy domination – They are a business after all…
it would hurt the individual sales of each game, yes it would be more profitable to wait a few years but if both games are ready now and if one is held back a few years it will be quite outdated

If you ever meet a hafling and a hungry dragon you dont have to outrun the dragon, you only have to outrun the hafling.
It is quite unlikely that both games would become ready at the same time as blizzard would have planned their tentative releases before production of either game started and would have made sure they didn't conflict.
Blizzard will definitely not have them ready at the same time. Not that they can't, but they won't want to.
Blizzard hasn't given much attention to Starcraft, despite its success. So I would assume that a sequel is inevitable. Although I can still be wrong >.<
I assume d3 will come out before sc2, if both are ready, then the best way to make money would be to release one in winter during the holidays, then release the other next winter.
In the Blizzard wanted ads, it seems like they are advertising for two PC games. Many of the ads advertise that it is the Diablo team, while others do not display any information about which team it is. It's possible that that could be the Starcraft team.
You think any game you like needs to be made into an MMORPG. Next, you'll be preaching about a Mario MMO. Which would be super pillow-biter, rump rider, gay.
Wow, you just contradicted yourself. You basically denied it, and then said, okay, if I replace Starcraft with Everything, which I basically did, then I'm right. So I guess i'm right. Thanks for that.
HOld on one minute, STARCRAFT SHOULD STAY AN RTS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it were to become something else, do you kno what kind of madness would come? 95% of asias population would go insane and destroy half the world. Starcraft 2 (if it comes out) will be the rts to end all other rts. If your a game developer making an rts, then you hear on tv that SC 2 was coming out, youd give up making your game becuse SC2 is that good!
Starcraft has the potential to become one hell of a mmo, alright. Theres a big BUT in this, tho. Starcraft is the best selling RTS franchise in the world atm. Vivendi has the Starcraft as a potential mmo, but it would be simply stupid for them to make it this way so early. A possible release of Starcraft 2 would make every RTS fan go insane. Even now the Starcraft + expansion Brood War is extremely popular, especially in Asia.
As for the RTS series of Warcraft, it isnt over yet (thats what Chris Metzen said on an interview). He said about WoW and the instance about to be implemented with the coming expansion: "Through the caverns of time we will be able to replay battles from the older strategy games, or maybe later some of the battles from Warcraft 4".
Blizzard has such a marketing sector that will use their franchise and get much more money. Thats the main reason they wont announce their "under development" games before the WoW expansion (Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 say hello) and thats the main reason they'll take their time with another coming MMO (i'm guessing something with the Diablo universe after WoW goes old - 4-5 years from now minimum).

dont forget that there are people that only want one of those games. I wouldnt buy Starcraft 2 if it comes out. I'm a Diablo fan. Even if they release both at the same time they wont loose customers. Most people would only buy 1 game at a time, thats right, but imagine how many people that play other kinds of RTS like Age of Empires III, the new Command & Conquer and some of the new stuff that come out would run and buy SC 2.
Now on the other hand since Diablo 2 there have been tons of copies (Sacred and Titan Quest are 2 of the most successfull ones) but none good enough to even compete with the 6 year old Diablo 2. Imagine how many people would/will buy this if/when it comes out.
You should realize that Starcraft is an RTS and Diablo is a hack & slash rpg. Each game will attract different kinds of gamers. And tons of them. Blizzard has nothing to loose by releasing them together.

Starcraft has the potential for an amazing MMO, on the other hand.
How many people want to see Starcraft 2 be an MMO? Or would you rather it be an RTS?
