During the mid-twelfth century, after the Church of Zakarum had gained prominence in the East, the Church decreed that the visions of Akarat would be spread throughout the known world in order to redeem the masses. Thus, the Church selected a group of its most charismatic and devoted priests and sent them on a mission to proselytize the people of the West.
Unfortunately, the Church had not prepared these men for the rigors of travel nor the hazards of the world. The priests who survived their missions recounted tales of harsh weather, inadequate supplies, attacks from bandits and even encounters with horrible monsters. To ensure the success of future missions, the Church set about training holy warriors, Paladins, to accompany and safeguard their missionaries. In practice, these "Protectors of the Word" proved to be more successful at converting the native peoples than the Priests that they were assigned to defend. Impressing the locals with daring deeds, powerful weapons, and martial prowess was far more convincing than the condemnations of a soft-spoken monk. However, once the Word had been spread to every major city of the West, the "Protectors of the Word" faded from public view.
Some decades later, Paladins were again called into service. During the height of the Time of Troubles, the Church commenced a second campaign of conversion. This time, however, the unconvincible were deemed evil. The Zakarum Inquisition spread through the lands like a tempest, laying waste to all suspected of demonic possession or corruption. Leading this crusade was a new generation of Paladins, known as the "Hand of Zakarum." These cavaliers of righteousness swept through the lands, expunging the taint of demonic contamination wherever they found it.
In the midst of this bloody crusade, a rebellion arose within the ranks of the Paladins of Zakarum. The rebels condemned the methods of the Inquisition, proclaiming that the new Order of Paladins should protect the innocent, and that the evil corruption was rooted in their forebear's failure. They resolved to fight the true source of corruption, the Three Prime Evils - Diablo, Baal and Mephisto. And so, these rebellious Paladins left their Zakarum brethren and ventured west...
A Time For Action
We now formally invite you to embark in this most historic of events- to join us in our crusade against the growing power of the Three, for it is with them that the vile dusk comes. Our journey, though it be long and arduous, and though many will be lost on its unknowable path, will be the declaration of our faith to the High Heavens. Though we be rebels to the Hand of Zakarum, we will be the Will of the Light, in whose mighty radiance no fell creature or ill power may stand, be it beast, corrupted man, devil, or fell magic. We will cast the Triune Brotherhood of Evil, in the name of the Most High Heavens, back from whence it came, back in to the shadows of the Abyss or where ever their evil must go. Join us in our journey, become a number of our prestigious ranks, and the Heavens will not frown upon you. The March into the West beckons.
In the Faith and also in Deed, Those That Serve the Light
(A new Role-Playing thread for the seniors of our site based on the march westward of the rebels of the Hand.)
This forum is not the clan forum, the clan forum is actually a sub forum of this one, but can only be viewed by members of the clan (or mods and admins).
Yeah, I'm not too familiar with the Zakarum. Think you could put some additional historical/geographical information in that first post eventually?
If you read the paladin history in the manual/arreatsummit it tells you most of it, or at least the main points.

Whether I DM (Dungeon Master) it or not I will join you in your epic quest, and our fury will be such that bards shall run their quills dry! Ink shall be scarse where'er we go!

I'm thinking of calling this quest The Western March to Westmarch, or maybe just The Western March. Should we take the route through the monestary or around the mountains?
I like this quest because it runs a crash course with the wanderer
It is for that reason I mentioned the Arreat summit website.
The Paladin The Knights of Westmarch who felled the armies of mighty Leoric are pure at heart and closely follow the teachings of Zakarum, the Religion of the Light. A battle-ready warrior for whom faith is a shield, the Paladin fights for what he believes to be right. His steadfastness gives him powers to bestow blessings to his friends and wreak cruel justice on foes. There are those who call the Paladin an overwrought zealot, but others recognize in him the strength and goodness of the Light.

The above info would form the basis for the RP.

Okay, I'll go at that later tonight, then- thanks
Also, I already asked you about this, Murderface, in the reply PM, but do the Zakarum have any stigmatism against casting magic? I don't know if I could do it without casting

No, the paladin has spells, holy bolt, hammers, and foth. Plus healing spells and cold spells (the hierophant)

This RP better be in the clan section (which is not this one). I don't want to have to delete posts from idiots not playing the game.
If it is in the clan section, only clan members can see it.
Though first that would require you to be in said clan.

Travincal is not the clan section. The Clan section is hidden to non members.
Travincal is like a reception of an office building. Visitors can come to the reception and get info about the clan, but cannot actually enter the actual area where all the work happens.
Why am I having to repeat this?

Need to make sure it is hard for spammers and immature people to join. We have enough areas being cluttered up with junk.

anyone could spam 500 posts to get in but they dont...spammers wouldn't go to those lengths. I dont see why 400 couldn't be a minimum when there are people here from the beginning with a lot less than 500. The test would be security enough if it is done well enough. And you had to repeat because i was out of town for two weeks and didn't recognize the clan thread immediately....my bad
