Anyone here familiar with setting up servers and channels on Ventrilo? And would you consider making one for the guild.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I think there is some software and possibly a fee of some kind involved. But I'm rather noobish when it comes to that, I more deal with joining the channels, not making them.

Yeah... i tried doing it with ventrilo and i had no idea what i was doing. I am pretty noobish as well with computers in general though.
From what i can tell, you have to download a server onto ur computer and it uses your bandwidth and what not. I'm on wireless and i got 3 people using my internet so I don't think i can be the host or whatever.
I think Ferret may be able to help too. He (I'm pretty sure it was him - lol - its been awhile - and havent used it inawhile) set it up so I could chat on it a few months ago with him, carlos and a couple of others from the forum.

we use vent all the time to play d2 in and Counter strike. (not to mention starcraft and a couple others... Theres many free ones out there with a cap of say 10 people per channel
maybe higher
ill haveto ask around
Would be awesome to have all of us voice chatting to each other at the same time.

Xfire has voice chat but I'm not sure how it works. If you can have conversations with more than 1 person at once in the same window then you can probably do exactly the same thing with Xfire as Ventrilo
You can voice chat on XFire. A "phone" button appears when you have headset plugged in, I gotta find my headset.

xfire in regards to voice chat works more like MSN than ventrilo. that is you have to initiate a convo with some one, then invite multiple other persons, ventrilo is more we all join a server, like the chat rooms on LOD in a way, only its voice instead of text.

I wonder if Umaro could create a Vent server. I think if you buy a Ventrilo server it cost monthly, unless you use your own equipment which I assume Umaro has because he runs the site
Im really not too sure, I know alot of other gaming sites have Vent servers though so when Diablo III is released and this site become the most popular site in the universe it would make sense to have a vent server too
Or d3.com could get its own channel within someone elses server; if thats how this whole thing works
Edit- From a brief look online it looks like if you get a free channel within someone elses server its usually very restrictive, as in not many people can be on. Whereas having an entire server would be better but may cost
if you host your own server on your bandwidth you can only have 8 people on it. but if you rent out a server from some website or something you can have a shit load. like my guild on wow has room for 150 people.
Still within the realms of being set up I think. But hopefully it goes "live" soon.

That wasn't so much the mic itself as it was 56k connection speed. The problem with the mic was it was set a too high a volume.

So mic volume is fixed now, now if I could only get more access to a faster connection.
