Hey fellas. Can someone with computery skills help me out? I'm looking for a basic music editing program. Specifically, one that allows me to take a file of one song, and add other files to, combining them into a single file. And if it had a few basic effects such as fade in and fade out as well that would be really great. I have lots of great computer game music on my computer and I hate how computer game soundtracks have the song you remember from the game but it's like a minute long on the disk. But sometimes I'd rather listen to it the way I do when I'm playing again which is like over and over as more background music.
I tried seeing if MMConvert had anything useful for doing this but it can't seem to combine files. I was thinking of trying it in windows movie maker but that just seems awfully silly. So does anyone know of anything better I can use? Thanks in advance.
A friend of mine uses one called VirtualDJ. It can do all you ask for and has some other effects too. I don't know if you can combine more than 2 songs at a time, though. It's definately not the best program to do that, it's a bit "childlish" (you can add toilet sounds to songs), but it gets the job done. Still, I'd wait for someone to suggest something better.
Bah, the Sonic Foundry is a Sony product and they want me to register it to use a trial period. I think that one's out now. Thanks anyway though, Dauroth. Alright, on to Audacity. Thanks Ivaron.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
