I know there are quite a few threads about graphics cards, but just want to ask a few simple (but not so easy to answer) questions here:
1. What card range do you think Starcraft 2/Diablo 3 would be in? (ie: is ATI HD 4850/4870 enough, or even more than enough? - enough as in I want to play the game with max graphics, AA, resolution - 19 inch screen)
2. How much difference does 500mb/1gb do? Just wondering if 1gb is overkill, since the games are both from an isometric view.
3. How do CPUs figure into these? I'm probably going quad-core, but just wondering about clock speed. (just say, something above some speed)
4. I think the 5870 is overkill (for diablo 3/starcraft 2). But what say you? I don't play much FPS. Or maybe it's just for enthusiasts?
Haha. Just wondering coz I'm upgrading my com mainly to play these 2 games.
This has been talked about a lot already...use the search thingy to find threads on this.....but to answer your questions D3 and SC2 will have low enough system requirements so that even people with low end rigs will be able to run them easily. This has been true with all blizzard games up to this point and I believe they have stated this is true with all upcoming games as well. Seriously tho just look at the games they dont even have graphics as advanced as some games that were released in 2005 so I doubt your going to need much to run them so you could probably run the games off cheap cards made this year on max with no problems or issues.
For having maxed out AA and a high resolution you will probably need a decent vid card tho
heres what youll need to play it on low. an ati radeon hd 2000 series or 3000. They are not demanding. If you'd liek to play crysis maxed and everything get a 4870x2 or dual 4890's. If you wanna play D3 maxed the most youd need is i'd say maybe a 3870. They are cheap as hell and very good. If your an Nvidia guy andy series will do fine obviouslly the lower series you get the worse the graph. but if you got a gts 250 you could max everything i think.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
From what I've read. Diablo 3 and Star Craft 2 are going to be playable on a VERY wide range of computers.. so what you're looking at are probably overkill.
I think that most people should be able to run the computers, especially people that are considered "gamers". I say this based on the track record of Blizzard games, none of them are very graphic intensive.
Now how well you can run the game, and at what setting is another story.
With a low end rig don't expect the game to look very pretty and don't expect get great FPS either, especially if you have a party full of monks and wizards with spell effects on high!
But I am fairly confident I should be able to run the game on max settings with out getting a new card, I currently sport a 9800GTX+

If Diablo 3 had the same requirements as SC2 while being released in 2011, then D3's graphics would be way outdated.
