That is certainly an interesting and provocative read, thanks for posting that.
I just thought I would share. Personally I couldn't believe an adult would EVER do that.

It surely was a bitch move on both of the mothers parts but suicide is suicide. She felt inclined to kill herself and she did (god rest her soul) but since when was it against the law to kill someone with words? I'm may be playing devils advocate here but it was a saddening tale.:(
she did tell the child to do something to herself...as in the world would be better without you...which is something an adult should not say to a child unless hes the most absolute horrible thing...
such a sad story...:(

I'd been following that story for awhile on another website.
It's absolutely amazing what Lori Drew got away with. I had to laugh when she tried to sue the Meier family for damage to a pool table that she was storing on their property (they destroyed it after finding out it was Lori who caused this entire mess - I didn't read the whole article, so I don't know if it mentioned this). It's even more pathetic to know that this all started because she is nothing but a helicopter parent who can't mind her own business.

you do have a good point. But I think the woman should have never pushed her that far imo. Yeah she had problems, but they were neighbors and the woman knew this.

She probably didn't think the girl would take it so seriously. Would you think that someone would kill themselves over what you told them on myspace?

I don't think she will be found guilty, I don't think there's any way you can call that conspiracy or fraud or anything. It's just very cruel, immoral, unethical, and wrong. That mom will have a life full of ridicule and she should feel guilty all the time. It is a sad story but it wasn't a malicious act intended to cause serious harm, although the girl's personality and history of depression probably conspired to the tragic end.

There's no law against being an asshole, and there shouldn't be.
Nothing can be done about it. It sucks, yeah, but you can't start putting out identities on the internet because a girl with psychological issues killed herself because of myspace.
Yea I stopped reading here ""Josh Evans" did not exist. The boy the Meiers felt was largely responsible for what happened to Megan was an invention. He was created by a woman in their neighborhood. A woman on their street. A woman named Lori Drew."
Thats just fucking sick, disturbing, and wrong on so many levels at the same time. That women should get ran over, die, and burn in hell for eternity.

Even if she does get off easy, this woman won't have another moment of peace until she dies.
After all, Internet users were the first to actually bring Lori Drew's name to the public. She has lost her business, her friends, and possibly, her marriage (I'm not entirely sure about that one; I thought I'd read it somewhere). She's stated that she can't live in the neighborhood anymore, just because of the sheer hatred people have for her.
If she moves, someone is going to know about it and share with the rest of the world. I'm not much for spite, but this woman deserves every bad thing that comes to her. Her daughter will likely get the same treatment, as well as the nanny that helped Lori out.
Interesting read, though I can't say I'm sorry for or feel bad for anyone in the article... basically because I don't know them and it doesn't effect me and I just don't feel bad about it.
Personally I hate it when people take myspace and other sites like it so seriously.

good point but the fact that she lied to myspace with intent to do harm in some sort of way kinda underlies this.
