But a single Butcher run can be like 10-15 minutes long sometimes. People don't even say hello. They're all fucking lazy typers anyway. I've discovered there is one way to get them to talk to you though. That's when they start an event that everyone's gotta click ok on.
During that time I wait until the last possible second to click okay and that will get people either to go "?" or "cmon".

I agree, I think that chating can get in the way though, I think the game is missing a skype thingy feature or something like that...
I guess I remember people just hanging out in town and chatting a lot too. Of course, party sizes were bigger back then and you could host different games for different purposes such as trading, questing, MFing....stuff like that. My game name was always "Video Games" and people always dropped in to chat and play.
The baby quest-game system kills player freedom to move randomly.
And... I, like everyone else probably, thought the Action House was an amazing idea. How wrong.... I liked the barter... The upper hand, lower hand stuff. Seeking out trades was the #1 way I made new online friends... My friends list was basically just guys I had made good trades with.
Your right Siay, its missing that element of player-player interaction that D2 had. Thats why layely I've only been attracted to games with that element of less/unrestricted player-player interaction. Kind of why I love Day Z so much. No system tells me that I have to move in one direction only, with people of roughly the same level, trading with other people like theyre NPC's... having to be friendly to strangers.
I didn't even realize I liked these parts of the game so much until they were gone. Thank you Diablo 3 for making me realize. Goddamn, even the unreleased Arena system doesn't sound appealing to me anymore.
And the stat system. I actually started to think Blizzard had a point with everyone just doing 'enough str, rest vit' builds. And that its just an illusion of customizability. Then I realized I like that fucking illusion. Video games are just illusions to begin with anyway goddamnit.
Does anyone have any recommendations for games with unrestrictive gameplay? I've been looking at Path of Exile after seeing that amazing looking passive skill tree.
I dono, playing Dota 2 and bfbc recently. Havent played D3 in weeks to be honest. Just logged in yesterday to check the RMAH prices... what a joke.
Im one of those guys who actually uses the chat in D3. I guess its just an old habbit that i cant break. Got it from playing san andreas multiplayer RP where you basically had to type in alot of stuff while controlling your character, etc...
Hmm, depends how much you have. If it's a substantial amount I might have some cool ideas on what to do with it all credit would go to you of course if I figure anything out.
Or you could just donate it to me, no questions asked and I'll find it a good home. ;P
overneathe said something in here that I think makes a lot of sense, when we first played the old games there were almost no info around and we had to get that info by playing, now with all this forums and everyone jumping at theorycrafting the game, for some people, is more a math problem than something to have fun.
Good thing I'm too lazy to make all the DPS math and stuff... all those numbers kill my playful mood

Path of Exile is pretty fun actually (thanks, Maka).
I'll say a few things I like about it. One is it is less flashy than D3. Now some people would certainly not think that's a good thing at all. But like, there are more basic attacks when you're starting as opposed to D3's instant flashy spells. Why do I like this? Well, it adds to the feeling of progression in the game. Like, when you start off in PoE, it really is like how you started off with D2. Where you have to use your basic attack and one other skill that's really expensive in mana to use. So some people really don't like that. But I actually loved in D2 starting with like a Necro for example, how I'd have one raise skeleton skill and I had to rely on that for awhile as I ran around just whacking people with a club or a wand. And it made this satisfying wood on flesh sound. With the Sin especially too. Just my claw and a shield and firebomb would be so expensive a skill or I'd use a charge up skill like tiger strike. And none of it was flashy in the beginning and it made you feel more vulnerable and exposed. So as you worked your way up the skill tree you kind of felt more rewarded.
Granted, one thing I hated about the skill tree especially for the Sin were the multiple skills you had to choose in order to get to the ones you wanted. For the Sin anyway, there were just way too many prereqs and this made alternate builds less viable. Especially the one I preferred. But I still loved it anyway. They could've easily fixed it if they just removed a few of the prereqs.
But PoE is more like this in that it feels a bit more raw and less fantastical. The way D3 should've been in my opinion. PoE is obviously a lot less refined as well and admittedly the combat does feel a bit clunky at times. The bartering system is something to get used to as well. You do more direct trades with NPC's rather than just using gold. I think there is a storyline motivation for that though because people are kind of like exiled to this island. But I'm playing a ranged class right now and I love how my basic attack really is just a fucking bow and arrow and it's making this satisfying "plink, plink plank plink" sound as I'm hitting my target. And if I wanna use mana for like a lightning arrow spell, well I'm certainly gonna pay for it in the beginning of the game.
I don't know. I don't think the two games ever need be in competition with each other. I'd argue in fact that PoE and D3 complement each other quite well actually. Oh man, but one thing I really do LOVE about PoE, is the fucking monsters don't flash white when you hit them. Seriously D3, why do the fucking monsters fucking flash white when you hit them!!! It's laaaaaaaame! If I'm hitting my target, indicate that by showing visible damage, cuts on the monsters, arrows stuck in their body, make lots of bone cracking and flesh severing sounds. But this white flashy nonsense to indicate damage? What is this? Some early 90's arcade game or something? It's such a dated and arbitrary way to show you're hitting your enemy.
Uhh sorry but I believe I'm the one that gave you the key for that Siaynoq. Jeez.
PoE has some fun gameplay mechanics, the art is pretty nice, but I find it to be a little boring. The skill tree for example is really cool and allows a very diverse playstyle on every character, but I also found it incredibly boring because a lot of the upgrades were just +5% dmg, +7% movement speed, etc etc. The actual monster killing itself also felt extremely repetitive and bland at lower levels. The quests are sort of just annoying fetch quests, and as far as overlying plot goes I didn't see one.
You'd just have to try it and see for yourself though.
Wow, what did you do to piss of zeus! Impressive piccys.
I've had all sorts of commods up on teh GBP and EUR RMAH, gold, gems, plans, crafting mats, and nothing has sold. Apparently us Brits and Europeans are tight bastards.
Thanks Rethical, not sure what I did but I was apologizing as I took photo's. What the pictures don't tell you was how violent the lightning was. The storm was super intense, the strikes were happening with a rapid frequency I have never before seen.
Not one things has sold? Wow talk about overly discerning customers.
the 2nd pic of your cat is very funny, its as if he/she is saying "Are you done taking my picture cameraboy"
LOL! I know right? Funny when I was taking them that wasn't the impression I got but then I looked at the photos and then it was obvious he was tolerating me.

If you aren't dedicated to the ARPG genre, EVE Online is the definition of sandbox open-ended and unrestricted gameplay. It's a slight departure from the magic/fantasy world, being a sci-fi spaceship game at heart, but there's literally just about nothing you cannot do. Be warned; however, this also includes scamming, excessive grief-play, and a learning curve comparable to learning a second language.
During that time I wait until the last possible second to click okay and that will get people either to go "?" or "cmon".

A painfully swollen hand covered in poison ivy sucks fat, sweaty man's hairy ass.
That is all.
How could I have forgotten that! I'm embarassed. I think I thought it was Maka for a second cause he kept insisting I play with him.
Alright, I owe you for that mistake. Everyone, DAEMARO gave me the beta key. Not Maka.
