That's a skill, trust me. I remember how people used to whine all the time about Nistelrooy just being an opportunist. It's about situating yourself on the field...and letting your mates do the job! LOL.
They were scored easily. Actually my biggest criticism for players in the World Cup is how they are unable to take advantage of wide open situations. For me, there is no excuse to hit the ball over the goal on a free kick. If you're World Cup level, you should be expected to shoot on target.
The USA proved to be weak and strong mentally this World Cup. They showed the nerve to come back from unreachable situations (USA vs. Slovenia) yet they were unable to start games and overtimes strong and kept giving up early goals. Plus they had so many situations that they just let go.
I really liked that the Ghana player was heavily pushed and didn't threw himself to the ground and started crying for a foul. You don't see that attitude in football nowadays. And they are fast! I hope our DT corrects our defense for fast teams, because Korea made us suffer. Go Uruguay!
I didn't watch the Uruguay game actually, but I heard it was close.
But I agree with you. If players actually stayed up and tried to fight through contact, they not only score more goals, but it would be easier for referees to make calls. If you just run into a crowd of people though, even if you DO get fouled, you should not get the call. Running into a wall of defenders should never benefit a player because you are hoping for a miracle or a foul.

What? Are you being serious here? That's like saying "Kobe Bryant has been playing for years, and because he reached the NBA Finals, he shouldn't miss a single shot!". What on Earth are you talking about, shouldn't miss a free kick. There are TONS of factors to consider in a free kick. Lol@you thinking that it's easy.

Yes, really close. I think I had never suffered more for a football match. Our second goal (it finished 2-1) left me aphonic (is that the word?).
Not only would they score more (Well, some of those fouls end up in goals actually), but I think it gives football a better image. As it is now, a good player has to be a good actor. I mean, they complain about EVERY call, even when it's obvious. The worst is when they can shoot, but at the most minor contact (sometimes there's not even conact) they throw themselves to the ground to draw the penalty shot. That's just being a complete pussy.

Yeah I know right? Seeing a player fighting through contact and then finally being shoved down or fouled hard give the referee a better reason to call a PK. And on the other end, seeing a player go one on one and see him fly through the air dramatically and falling right on his face even though there was a good 8 feet between him and the defender will make refs hesitant to blow their whistles.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Argentina is going to have a hard time against Mexico, they might even lose.
Any other time and place, I would disagree with you. But after seeing Mexico's improved play over this World Cup and seeing that Argentina isn't that dominating as people said they would be made me actually agree.
