It doesn't really reflect very well on your maturity to say things to new members like, "I hope you're intelligent...", and then proceed to engage in a flame war with someone else on that new person's introductory thread.
If you folks are so gung-ho on keeping new people around, how about show some modicum of respect?
Its true, I sympathize with the plight of the noob, feeling out of place in a community because some jackass with 1000+ posts is ragging on you isn't right. I remember being a noob back in sep 2006 it was rough to get into it and eventually I took a break from the forum because I felt like there was nothing I could say of importance.
You are wrong Link, people can develop maturity in their posts over time. I see it all the time, Ive even seen that change in you. If they feel like they belong, they will develop a want to show personality in their posts.
By the way, if you have a problem with me, PM me, don't make a thread about it.
I wasn't trying to single-out one person, hence the thread.
I agree with you -- quality over quantity, but that wasn't my point.
My sole point was, if you want quality people to stick around, don't ignite flame wars in their introductory thread. That shows bad quality on the part of those who do so; you defeat your purpose by showing your ass in the same thread in which someone introduces themselves.
It shows disrespect to the new person, and reflects poorly on the community.

That's all I'm saying.
I didn't "ignite a flame war". I simply warned her that Americans, on average, do not like the French. Otc attacked me for pointing that out. I asked him to prove me wrong and he refused.
I don't think it's wrong to warn someone about something that is relatively common on average.
Also, its singling me out if you say LINKX DID THIS in a thread, not in a PM.
LinkX - There is no point in stating something like to anyone. Yes it is your own opinion, but maybe others do not want to hear it.
OTC - Common man, something as little as this should not be blown out of proportion or lead to a disgruntancy towards others.
As for "flame wars" in intro threads, this is something that should not be happening. It is a mere "hello, welcome to diablo3.com" type deal. No arguements, no saying "this is better" or little kiddy stuff like that. Great the new comer as everyone, EVERYONE, here has been one. Any new person is just as equal as the people with +3k posts. Everyone here is human and lets all act like it. Any person issues or something negativity needs to be pointed out, pm the person or mod/admin. Other wise, lets be mature and keep civil.

Its funny cause on average Americans are at least part French in lineage.
I believe it's because on average Americans think that France owes America for WWII and France wasn't on board with Iraq so they must be evil.
But I could be wrong.

I was pointing out something that does happen. I was trying to warn her so she would know ahead of time that it will happen when it happens. I am sorry that I was trying to be nice.
lol link insulted Americans, im seriously irritated with it.
every now and then someone always has to make remark that was completely unnecessary.
it's annoying. grow up.

See, this is what I am talking about...If I went about to post somewhere and say Japan sucks, what do you guys think the response would be? Why would anyone just want to start something up like that. I just cant see why people talk about APPROPRIATE topics/issues and that is that. Why must it always have to come down to everyone ripping eachothers heads off? This forum has became very tasteless as how it has been going.

I was referring to the argument as a whole. Again, not singling you out. It takes more than one person to engage in a flame-fest.
I highly doubt Vinyamar really and truly needed someone to point out that some Americans have a less-than-complimentary opinion about the French.
I'm sure she's an intelligent girl, and is well aware of that.
And you're intelligent enough to know that making such a statement was bound to raise someone's hackles, so why even go there?
When OTC responded to your warning, shouldn't you have done the exact same thing you're telling me to do, and respond to him via PM, instead of dragging it out in front of a new member, in her own thread?
It's off-putting to new members, and sets a bad example, which, as I said, defeats your purpose of trying to hold on to those new people.
And I'm not even singling this one instance out; another reason for starting this thread -- it's more wide-spread than in Vinyamar's thread. A few people jumped on someone in my introductory thread, and I'm sure it's happened plenty of other times in other threads in this forum.

Just a suggestion.
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
Personally I like the idea of quality over quantity. Guess that's a dying idea though...
By the way, if you have a problem with me, PM me, don't make a thread about it.

Ive never seen anyone make fun of Frenchkitty, so why would you assume people would want make fun of the French?
