So i bought starcraft about a week ago. played it on and off. I have just finished with the story and i think it was awsome. Times where it gave me goosebumps were crazy. The cinematics is crazy to the point i said to myself "They need to make a movie".
I played the game on normal mode and the only problem i had was the final missions. Still, i enjoyed the whole game.
If anyone hasnt gotten this game yet and thinking about buying it should. Its worth the money. This is just the story too. Which doesnt even go into multiplayer which we will probably play for another 12 years.
I will be playing this game deffinatly until diablo 3 releases. :starwars:
For instance, Kerrigan is supposedly purged of the zerg infection, yet, if you look you'll see that her hair is still all tentacles, leaving me wondering if it is only a temprary relief sort of thing for her or they can get together with Jim finally.
As far as I know, Heart of the Swarm will revolve around Kerrigan still controlling the Zerg somehow. The reason she was the key to standing against the Xel'Naga had to be because she controlled the Swarm, what else could it be? So if saving her meant she lost control of the zerg, it would still be the end of all things. Which just doesn't make sense.

exactly what i'm curious of. how she will keep control of the swarm now that she's back to human again. either her psionic powers changed somehow and the whole second chapter of the trilogy will show us how she works on regaining control of the swarm (without becoming the "Queen of Blades" again). or she'll be back to what she was and will kill/infest Raynor in the process. would be a nice twist, no?
anyway, those are the only 2 options i could think of that make some sense.
Yea you are lucky to finish campaighn. My computer takes a shit during the Evacuation mission and I cant even start the Smash and Grab. Gatta get a new computer :'( I can play 1v1 and the first 3 challange modes lol

You sir are in violation of article 39ys of the internet law:

That's what the smiley says.
HOWEVER, the game is nice and all. But my taste really goes more towards rpg and shooter games. The only reason why I liked warcraft 3 was the implentation of the hero units. Which are not present in Starcraft 2.
At the same time I do not like Starcraft 2 because of the 'finishing' moves like the nuke.
But that's just a personal taste. The campaign was, I have to admit, fun to play. It slightly reminded me a lot of Tiberium Sun, the command and conquer game that is pretty old and is already sequeled till death.
You also broke rule #785 of the internet: The internet cannot detect sarcasm.
But idk, I really like the SC2 story, even though it wasn't the strongest area of the game.
was that when you did the protoss missions they said that they needed her to survive. well why then would you still save her? like. wouldnt making her back into human lose control of the zerg? it just confused me why they didnt tie that up with the main story.

Technically they only said she mustn't die, not that she had to be turned back human. But her remaining the Queen of Blades wouldn't exactly have worked very well either. So I guess that's kind of´an unforeseen turn of events. I guess they'll just have to wing it from here on

I thought it was stupid that Kerrigan was turned human by the end of the campaign. Like, I don't care how powerful this Xel'Naga artifact was. If it was really so powerful to kill all the Zerg in the area, it should have just killed Kerrigan as well. And Raynor, stupid idiot, he could have at least slapped her across the face for killing billions of people. Are we supposed to believe that she did ALL those bad things just because she was a Zerg? I don't think so. Kerrigan was supposed to be a broken person from the beginning. The life of a Ghost as far as we understand it is not an easy one and there are hints that Kerrigan is kind of a bad person even before she became a Zerg. But instead, this magical artifact turns her back into human and Raynor's all, "It's all good. I know you didn't mean all that genocide stuff."
I think it might have been a more poignant scene at the end if she at least tried to resist Raynor. Instead of just letting him pick her up, maybe she would crawl away all scared as if he was gonna kill her. And I hate Raynor's character so bad now. I kind of hated him throughout the campaign anyway cause he's all, "We gotta save her!" Like how stupid is that? And what bothers me about the Xel'Naga artifact is that it's too powerful. Kerrigan's been a Zerg for so long that there are just some things that should be irreversible. And if it killed all Zerg life within the blast radius, why didn't it destroy all sorts of shit on her? Not counting her bone hair, but it would've been at least a little more convincing if her skin was melted off in more places or just bleeding out of all her orifices.
At any rate, I was just pissed and kind of disappointed in Raynor. He could have at least grabbed her by the bone hair and dragged her out of the cave. I mean, that bitch was killing all my Battlecruisers in one hit. Even my hired one! I loved that ship! Okay, so maybe he's not gonna bitch slap her or drag her out by the hair. But he could've at least come off as more ambivalent toward her. Yes, he's in love with her, but he's also gotta hate her somewhat for all the people she's killed and not just believed that she had absolutely no free will during her infestation. Damn you Tychus! You miserable failure. You know how Raynor feels about Kerrigan but instead of quickly putting a bullet in her head you have to sit there and go, "Damn shame, but I reckon' I gotta kill this purty girl now." Stupid idiot.
The campaign was still fun as hell though. That last mission was so hard. It was impossible with the Nydus Worms. I thought when choosing whether to take out the air support or Nydus Worms that I'd be totally able to handle the ground units but I was so wrong. Those Nydus Worms spawned clear the hell out there and I was never fast enough with my Banshees to take them all out before my base got overrun. But after doing the mission again with taking out the Worms I was finally able to beat the campaign. And how cool was it that we got to play a few Protoss missions?
One thing that bothered me just a bit about the campaign though was how like when you'd get a new military unit. And when this happens, it's kind of fun to experiment with it, test its abilities and strategic potential. The problem is that a lot of these missions have a sense of urgency about them. Where you need to get to somewhere fast or you fail the mission. Or maybe you need to protect something far away so you can't have fun with defending your base against waves of attacks. The missions were fun and really dynamic and I enjoyed the narrative and everything, but sometimes I wanted just to sit back and build huge armies and have big battles with 200 of my guys against 200 of theirs. There were a couple missions like this though like the ones where I have to upload the old Mengsk recording on the Dominion broadcast towers. But that missions was way to easy for Normal and I conquered all the enemy bases easily.
So right now I'm kind of screwing around on the player versus AI single player games. I'm a little upset cause I can't train Specters, I have to settle for Ghosts. And can I really not train Medics? I just couldn't believe it. I was playing a skirmish game against the computer and the Zerg slaughtered me. And all those fun upgrades and research I got in the campaign (such as the awesome regenerative metal tech) I no longer have any access too. Meeeee!!!
Pretty much agree here. While I'm not against the Xel'naga thing all that much, the whole ending could have been more believe, or at the very least gritty. It got a little too fluffy and nice there at the end.

Shatter the Sky was like that as well. Maw of the Void (where you get Battlecruisers for the first time) was a little like it. But yeah, overall most of the missions had a clear timetable you had to follow. Unorthodox I'd say, wbut very nicely pulled off.

When it came time to choose the Science Vessels in the lab I actually went with that other vessel (forgot its name). I do hope in future patches they allow more of these units to be built. I understand simplifying skirmish and multiplayer games to a point, but there were just tons of units in the campaign that you didn't get enough time to play around with. Then once you go to single skirmish or multiplayer, you don't even get those units anymore. Such a tease.
And is there no map editor in this game? One of my favorite past times used to be making SC maps to play on.

Raven. Since I already knew that one was available in the mutliplayer, I went ahead and picked the Science Vessel instead. I definitely think it was the better choice, at least for my play style.

Oh there's a map editor. I've only had a look through it, placing stuff and such, but from what I can tell it is tremendously more advanced and complex. Gone are the days where you just created a unit from scratch in 1 minute by basing it off something else. But the sheer amount of stuff you can edit now... suffice to say, there will probably be some very badass custom maps released over the years.

Ah okay then. I'll try to find it again. I felt kind of stupid as I figured it had to be there but I wasn't seeing it. I realize making maps is much harder now. But as long as you're not trying to add triggers and objectives other than killing everything it's never too bad. I usually like making maps where you can only reach your enemy by air.

I just beat the campaighn. I was a little dissapointed by the ending. I would have rather had Kerrigan be all evil. Oh well cant wait for next campaighn now lol.

well kerrigan wasnt really evil ever (in other words kerrigan as a terran isnt really the same person in a sense as the queen of blades)
its just mengsk sent her on a suicide mission in 1 and jimmys pissed cuz it was his chick xD
o and he left the entire force on the planet for the zerg to eat lol
also the infestation is more of a parasite and didnt actually turn her into zerg =3 otherwise shed be dead right then xD
i predict the overmind will prob come back and take control of the zerg again since thats the natural leader of the zerg
(well there was more than 1 and it wont be the same overmind but maybe one of the many clones lol)

Idk...I definitely didn't like the ending. It was for sure a cop out fairytale ending. I wish Tycus would have killed her or Jim was mortally wounded and died along with Sarah. Idk...something a bit more interesting than what happened. In fact...ya. I wish Jim would have died. I don't mean that like I didn't like him because I did. He was awesome. But he just strikes me as the good guy character that should die at the end. you know, like a noble hero death.
