What people fail to realize is that ther ISNT INTERNET EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Just because you live in the US (Like I do), many of the places that Starcraft and Blizzard games became VERY popular, was because they DID NOT require an internet connection. In many countries it is very expensive for "common people" to afford such a thing.
Therefore LAN gave them the chance to experience what we do on BNET. Not to mention that entire gameshows, in Korea, and gaming competitions specifically focused on LANNING.
And many are NOT thrilled about having to depend on a 3rd parties servers for these events. (Even if that 3rd party created the game they are playing)
BTW, I DO live in the US, and am lucky to have easy access to the internet. But numerous friends from variouse parts of the world (outside of the US) will NOT be buying this, as they do NOT have an internet connection, and loved Blizzards old friends because they would jsut be able to LAN with each other!

Right you are, and so the debate comes full circle. I was talking to a new co-worker today who owned and ran a cyber-cafe for years. His most popular game hands down, was Diablo 1 on the LAN.
what no one has been able to explain to me as yet is why my wife and I sitting in front of 2 pc's the same room would need to connect to a server on another continent in order to play Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 multiplayer.

just makes no sense to me.
Because they are greedy and they want to squeeze every penny in every way possible, thats why!
I hope Korea puts a ban on their ass or something.
