I have WarCraft II -- it's the first Blizzard game I bought, which was prior to Diablo being released -- but I got kinda bored with RTS once Diablo hit the scene, so I've never played StarCraft. I was considering purchasing the Battle Chest once I have some disposable cash that isn't already ear-marked for the Diablo Archive.
Wasn't there a topic jut like this made? except it was Starcraft versus warcraft, instead of warcraft 2 in specific. Anyways,
Warcraft 2 was great (I didn't like Warcraft 1 really though). I love the music and the sounds and the atmosphere. It was an excellent game.
Starcraft wins though, because it is far more advanced in strategy and tactics. It's mechanics and graphics are also more of an improvement with variable unit sizes (graphically), larger unit groups, etc.
I don't like starcraft's music as much though. Not only is the only real music the terran one, but it's not even that awesome. Warcraft has like over 12 tracks.
For me, WarCraft II was always a game to relax, to build simply, somewhat lazily, and not worry about pretty much anything except microing my mages and paladins. And I just liked the whole fantazy feel of it, and I loved the vocals. I never felt like playing WC2 multiplayer. I just played the campaign and those fancy custom levels.
StarCraft II is a multiplayer game to me when I want to discharge. It's very stressful for me, too. I am more competitive about it. It's a complex, balanced game for multiplayer.

I searched every page of the Polls & Surveys, StarCraft, and WarCraft forums before I created this, and didn't see any such topic.
If I missed it, then, Oops -- my bad.

That was pretty much how I went at it. Maybe that's why I got bored.
Vocals were cool, though.
The in-game story of Starcraft was WAY better. The out-of-game story of Warcraft was WAY better. Taking into consideration the time each was made and the experience Blizzard had at the time, they are relatively equal.

StarCraft is far more appealing to me than Warcraft II. Orcs are lame.
I dissagree. Orcs are pretty interesting. The in-game story, as I said, is pretty slow, but the out-of-game story is awsome.
Basically if you want it for the gameplay/in-game story go SC. If you want a long detailed history about why this is this way and why that is that way and why this person hates that person but loves those two over there then go Warcraft. Starcraft has a huge history but it can't compare with just one game compared to four.

And to me, StarCraft seems like AVP...
Protoss as Predator
Zerg as Alien
Terran as Human
Considering I got SC before I heard about AvP I kinda went the other way. AvP seems like Starcraft.
i loved wc2, i thought it was better than sc, but then again the first time i played sc was 1 1/2 yrs ago, wo maybe it was because i was younger when i played wc2

What would that difference in purpose be?

Warcraft was an amazing game. I had a lot more fun playing Warcraft 2 when it came out than Starcraft.

You have to admit that he's good.
However I perfer Starcraft over Warcraft 2.
I never said WarCraft was a bad game... I just like SC better. What's it with you attacking me all the time?

Odd, but true. BTW - love the Protoss

Similarities are wierd though, huh?
How the hell did I miss that? Sheeyit.
Well, thanks for playing along, anyway, folks.
Appreciate the responses.
How was I attacking you? I just said why Warcraft was better.
