i dont know, those warcraft III cinematics looked sick. a feature length movie that looked like that, i think that could work. but yes most likely a DIablo movie would be live action, that is to say it would have actors in the flesh, not just the voices.

still quite a bit of a diablo movie would be CGI anyway, probably about the same as in LOTR. many of the demons and other various monsters. i dont really see someone wearing a Diablo suit.

LotR features a lot of humanoids. Orcs, dwarves and elves, they can all be played by humans.
But Skeletons, Minotaurs, Scarabs, Mephisto and Diablo? You need computer-animations for almost everything in Diablo.
And look at the Balrog, he looked pretty good
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
CGI on monsters don't matter because monsters are feelingless for the most part, unless it's something like Gollum, he was really good. But Diablo? Nah, he's easy.
But people should be played by people. Unless you are a very good animator/modeler and you are really low on good actors (and that doesn't happen).

yep. humans, uh some of the zombies and vampires, zakarumite priests, and the knights in act 4 and maybe the council members, i think thats about it that could be played by humans before it gets stupid. people in minotaur suits would suck.
anyone else think some of those old animatronics in old movies seem better than some of the CGI creatures? yoda looked better as a puppet.

i think it would either be set during the Sin War or D2, with d1 being the prologue/intro like the hobbit was for LOTR. the quickly gave a run down of what happened. (then later decided to make the hobbit into a movie)

cant recap without a voice over, or can you? anyway Paul Eiding should do it. he did do the narration for the games. or prehaps one of the actors in the movie. ala LOTR

let us not forget that this thread does cover the possiblity the make a CGI movie, in which case we would be thinking of actors for their voices.
but more that likely it will be a mix of both live action and CGI like LOTR, so some some actors will be needed to provide voices for some of the demons and angels
Jim Cummings. Frank Welker, Michael Dorn, Kevin Michael Richardson, Michael Clarke Duncan and David Warner should be considered for roles as either demons or angels. i think Equinox mentioned some one else uh "Walter Gorden (name misspelled on purpose)", and Ocarina Warrior mentioned Mark Hamill. he does do a good job of the Joker in the 90's series, Batman The Animated Series, and subsequent JLA cameos.
so to recap for all, all suggested actors are as follows (plus some new ideas);
- Josie Maran or Roselyn Sanches or Sophia Vergara or Halle Berry or Shakira or Michelle Rodriguez or Kate Beckinsale as the Sorceress - Sean Connery or Bernard Hill or Laim Neeson as Deckard Cain
- Jim Cummings as Griswold - Bas Rutten or Markus Rühl or Brock Lesnar or Goldberg or Arnold Schwarzenegger or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson or Mel Gibson (if he bulked up) as the Barb – Don Cheadle or Wesley Snipes or Denzel Washington as the Paladin - Bill Roper as the voice of Diablo, seeing as how he did the game voice as Diablo - or Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger) or Brad Dourif (the Chucky voice) as the voice of Diablo - Angelina Jolie or Jordanna Brewster or Tea Lioni or Kate Beckinsale as the Amazon - Winona Ryder or Milla Yovovich or Michelle Rodriguez or Kate Beckinsale as the Assassin – Jason Isaacs or Edward Norton or Marilyn Manson or Pierce Brosnan as the Necromancer – Hugh Jackman or Val Kilmer or Seth Green as the Druid
- Tobin Bell (from the Saw series) or Paul Eiding (Mephisto, and d1 narator) as the narrator
- Sean Connery as Vorrec

Well, I don't watch what you watch, just as you don't watch what I watch. Comics and cartoons are not my thing, so I don't know these guys' voices... even if I do, I don't know which is which...

thats true. kinda hard to suggest people when not everyone knows them.
i might be able to supply some sound files from BGII for you.
most of the voice actors i mentioned did work for some of the characters.

I don't know my actors. I know who they are, but I don't see an actor as either a good actor or bad actor (unless they're horrible).
Just so long as it sounds good I don't care who does it

Thanks. They sound like medieval RPG voices. And, I guess, that's what they are. Those are the actual voices, not empowered, right? I don't think Jim's voice would suit Griswold, though, it should be a harder voice, less "old". I guess an actor can vary his voice, though.
I'll try to cut parts of HDS's (Walter Gorden's) speeches, only if you would want that, of course...? His voice is empowered there, though, similar to the way Darth Vader was done. Never heard the real one, the guy is a nobody. I guess he would rather do for a Mephisto or something, not arrogant enough for Diablo.
It's funny that I never heard Diablo speak properly because my Diablos have no cinematics...

those sound files are the actual ones they provided for the game. they havent been edited to my knowledge.
jim has done more harder and gruff, and well erm ah scottish voices before, like the guy from Samurai Jack, but i dont have any sound files for that char.
James Earl Jones was awesome as Darth Vader. just saw him in Conan (again) he is awesome.

diablo never spoken in the cinematics, the warrior/wanderer spoke, but that voice was someone else. Diablo only spoke in game, "not even deat hcan save you from me" and during the startup for d1, "evil laugh", on both occasions the voice was provided by Bill Roper.

if you could i along with others im sure will have a listen to them.
