I find that if I go back to games I couldn't beat when I was younger now that I am reasonably better at them.
I had so much time on my hands that I got godly at Jazz Jackrabbit 2. I made it to the final boss but could never beat him. I decided to load it up again a year or two ago and was like "okay little me, how in the world did you get past this. This is an impossible boss..." I had it down to a science, I had like which weapon to use on each boss and everything. I wish I could remember how to beat that game...
On the other hand, I had a major d'oh moment about a month ago when I realized (after playing the game off and on most of my life) that in the first Pokemon Trading Card Game for the Gameboy Color you can actually make your own decks and don't have to use the horrible preconstructed ones. Beat the game in two days. More than a decade of "this deck sucks, I can't play this, I wish I could make my own deck!" I finally found the menu to do it. Made me pretty mad actually.

"All of my items are guaranteed for life, and come with a two-day warenty."
I remember playing Link, the second Zelda gmae for NES, that game is rediculous. I acctually downloaded it for my Wii and still can't beat it! I'm sure if I put more time into it I would, however

X-fighter (Unrelated to Star Wars, almost as old though) was extremely difficult at high levels; ah the day's of using an 80286.
Haha, I remember that with the hand-held guns and all.
Oh that game was fun.
Also, God mode in God of War is near impossible. I am currently in the realm of Hades getting my ass raped by those spinning spiked columns.
