There will always be someone who will figure out how to get through those alarms no matter how good they are. Besides, I might not be able to afford good alarms when I'm older anyways.
And I think being anywhere in the Diablo world would be scary as hell. Think about it, everything in that world would seem just as real as the real world. So essentially you would be walking through dark forests surrounded by horribly realistic demons everywhere. It would be absolutely terrifying.
And I'm sure they'd incorporate other senses into virtual reality as well. I don't know if they'd let you feel pain but you'd likely be able to smell and feel everything else. It would be strange if you were walking around in a world where everything looks realistic but you can't feel anything.
Anyway, mainstream virtual reality probably won't be out in our lifetime unless we are very rich. The technology is simply much too expensive for the average joe to buy. Besides, we'll all be dead by 2012 anyway.
In here you're talking about the scary effects, without even touching on the positive ones. Imagine you could raise the dead with a single thought, shower your opponent with fire storm or leap 20 feet into the air and land a crushing blow on your opponent with your indestructible bonesnap maul. With these powers theres no real reason to fear anything...
Let's say your a barbarian. Your entire life was based on killing. Your telling me some walk in a forest at night is gonna change that??? think about the spartans, thats all im sayin
id shit bricks if i went through act 4/5 in reality. WHO HEAR HAS THE BALLS TO 1V1 DIABLO IN REAL LIFE? dont talk out of your ass....
at the same time, i think that would be a major turn on for people. normally, you would be scared... but in this reality, ur a different person. games like this probly would be short lived due to this tho. talk about identity chrisis... haha. the world would come to a halt. everyone is 2,3,4,5 people.... AHHHHH
haha. sidetracked.
as for being rambo in the forest, hell ya thatd be cool. id be a barb whirlwiding through EVERYONE and a sorc setting every tree around me on fire. BURN BABY BURN!
i say 40 years and we will see it. 20 years for absoulute real life graphics+physics. 10 years of almost a lul... then the next 10 years would be all the testing being done for those previous 10 years. think about it, a 500$ computer would= a supercomputer or more now.
I think I'd just like an expansion pack or two for Diablo III before we even start thinking about IV
well like loyal fans of any game we'd be exited to see another sequal to get to the next thing but blizzard cant milk the diablo tit forever. i mean just imagen the plots to the game in diablo 6. has to end somwhere. but i could imagen them re-creating the first diablo or the lore that comes before that period but as with all good things it must come to an end
video games are like a good story. you get to read it over and over again. and hopfully theres a few sequals to that story. but it dose start to get dry at some point. ive never heard of a book that has over 200 sequals. not saying i wouldent get every single 200 of them though
I didn't really love D2 for the story I was too young to even understand the story, but I loved it anyway. The story is actually really lame.
I agree that the story itself isn't anything to get excited about but the manner in which it is told is extremely convincing and engaging. I think that's part of the reason why people say that Diablo has a good story.
could be nice to have a RTS in wich u get to caommand the barbarians at mount arreat or the mercenaries in lut gholein... and of course the "hero" units would be one of the classes
yeah... luckily diablo is a spiritual being so he can't actually die.. so we could have hundreds of games... tho it can turn a little repetitive... lol
all they have to do is keep improving, changing for the better, and coming up with a well thought out clever perpetual story line and as long as the story is good and the game play is great, i don't see any reason to take advantage of increasingly better technology over the years and improve the game again and again.
Just look at popular console titles like Mario, Zelda, call of duty, halo; its like they just keep coming and coming and comming...
yeah, but, can you improve a storyline indefinitely? and avoid to just make expansions of the same game over and over... don't get me wrong, i'd love that they could make a lot of games... but what's the limit?
i'm sure that when we get to know the D3 stryline there will be a ton of threads here about how the plot should continue... unless we destroy sanctuary in the end... that would make D4 story rather dificult lol
would u guys be down with an epic d3 story/game play then an expansion or 2 and the last expansion being the end all be all?
diablo series has to end. its too epic. it needs to come to and end before it screws its self over.
imo, the exp to d3 needs to be the end and then they need to come out with a new story to make an d3 type of game. a whole new series that is hack n slash
yeah, i have a double feeling about it... it's like i don't want it to end, because i want to keep on playing diablo, but i know that if it doesn't it will "screw itself over"... so, to answer your question: one one side, i'll be down, but on the other hand i'll be happy, because we got the best out of the story and the games
They said that Diablo III will close the story that started with Diablo I, which could indicate that it's going to be the last we will see of Diablo! However, the Diablo Universe has really expanded since the first game, and I'm sure they can think of a new story that doesn't involve Diablo in particular! For example, I would really like to see the Sin War as a new storyline, even though it happened before the original Diablo Trilogy!
good idea... like a precuel... you could even talk to the horadrim that wrote the tomes of D1 always wanted to meet those guys
Hmm, yes it might be scary when a siege breaker breaks out of a wall and charges you But I think that dying would just equal the screen turning black. It would obviously not include real pain
I've sat down and thought about the future of gaming technology once, and virtual reality was the main candidate. The #1 appealing factor for me was that it could and hopefully would make the player feel pain when they're hit. Of course, there would be a pain gauge that you can set like 10-50% the pain of the real thing actually happening, depending on your preferences.
Take the pain away after being hit, and thhat entire sense of feeling will be gone and you've lost touch with the virtual reality. You need SOME pain, even if it's small...
Oh and as for virtual reality being too scary: are you kidding me? There are so many players out there scrambling for a good new horror game. Was resident evil a failure because it could make you nearly shit your pants?

Yeah, I dunno about that puttah fellow.....A little strange to me....
Pain is good..?..
Isn't this all just for fun?
Don't think anyone would die from a heart attack because of virtual reality. I mean, they know it's a game.... Kinda defeats the purpose of playing virtual "reality" if you can't differ from real life and brown your panties everytime you play...:O

Battle not with monsters lest you become one.

You might find some other games set in Sanctuary, but they're not necessarily going to be primarily about stopping the invasion of hell.
Well, at least, not in the ARPG genre.
Just look at popular console titles like Mario, Zelda, call of duty, halo; its like they just keep coming and coming and comming...
