I just wanted to say, "Thanks," to the people who recommended this game.
I just finished the beginning of the second chapter and I have to say that I was very pleased with the first chapter. I find that the story-driven gameplay is a really refreshing change of pace and of style especially since it is executed well (so far at least). The combat is scaled down to a more believable level than one finds in other games (the player isn't slaughtering hordes of monsters single-handedly (at least not yet)) and while this may bore some people, I find it to be quite enjoyable.

there are making a console version of The Witcher, same game but totally for the consoles.
different view, control system
and Shiniku forgot to mention you can collect cards of artistically drawn nude/semi nude women by getting them to have sex with you
that is actually sticking close to the novels as the main character is written to be a casanova plus Witchers can have sex but can't get women pregnant and immune to diseases (IIRC) so no excuse to go round and have fun
I don't know about this game. I tried the demo, and the first 30 minutes of "playtime" was watching cutscenes. I think they could have elaborated a lot on the combat mechanics, and skill and weapon choices are weak and unimaginative. Even the quests seem waaaaay too far apart. I played for about 2 hours and still never even got to the first actual quest. I think they tried to take a Fallout 3 approach for the introduction to the game, but failed quite miserably. Also, why is it that virtually every single game that is made nowadays requires the main character to lose his memory?!?! And this one's not even a sequel and he still loses his memory in the beginning!!
The story is mediocre and vague, and the graphics are pretty good, but I think the actual gameplay has a lot of room to improve. I don't see anyone playing through this game more than twice in their entire lives.

What?
did you even play it?
you get your first quest right at the start of the game.
and alot more quests following that
how is it even similar to Fallout 3 and if any game was copying any, here is a though, The Witcher came out way before Fallout 3
and KoTOR 1 had that.
and The Witcher was based of a series of novels and the amnesia was to get gamers who had never read the novels up to speed on the world.
if he didn't have the amnesia it would be very difficult to get into the game since you wouldn't have the basic knowledge of the world and what the character was about
so the amnesia wasn't a gimmick

Just another opinion.
you just played a 30 min demo, how could you give your opinion on the story of an RPG based off that?
the story is great FYI
Since I'm a late bloomer and I have become increasingly bored, I ordered The Witcher Enhanced and Titan Quest(Classic and the EXP). I've been reading about both games and I've heard nothing but good things about The Witcher. I should get the game tomorrow, so I'll check back after a few hours of playing.
