Im looking for a game to play until Diablo 3. I tried WoW and it didnt stick with me. Its way too cartoony for me and the mmo thing god me as well. I loved diablo 2 to death and nothing ive played has compared. I also did enjoy the leveling in guild wars, though got sick of it quickly once it came to pvp. Im looking for something I can basically play alone or easily find groups much like D2. A game thats kind of dark and evil as well. Any suggestions would be awesome im really looking for something to play I miss computer games its been a while since ive had fun playing them.
Many of the MMOs out that aren't F2P are crap compared to WoW. And honestly, most F2P MMOs are crap as well. The only one that's really bloody, dark, and you can play by yourself or in parties is Requiem: Bloodymare.
I have a Beta account to it, and I'd happily let you use it if I can remember it. I can't remember if the beta is even still going on ... it might be coming out for real eventually.
It's bloody, and that's interesting for a while, but it ends up just being a grinder game like every other asian MMO.
So, really, there aren't really any good games out. lol
I'm downloading the Planetside trial right now. It's not dark, but looks fun. And if Mythos would still let you invite people, I'd invite you to the game. But it will be open beta soon so you should get to play then.

Try FPS's, if you like them, there are just oh so many to choose.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

To be honest im not a huge FPS fan. I also tried hellgate:london and got bored pretty quickly. Any other suggestions, or has anyone played neverwinter nights 2? I was just looking at the website

I heard it was a good game, but I'm not sure how strong the online community is anymore.
I suggest Rakion. It's not a well-known game, but you will always find rooms to join and people to kill.
It's 90% PvP, with stages you can do that are about killing all NPC monsters in a certain place in certain timelimits. It has 5 different classes, each unique and good in their own ways, each loot different with different moves/abilities and different weapon types.
It's in third-person view, with FPS or console controls. The view is like GunZ basically, except a bit closer.
There aren't too many hackers on the game. You'll probably on average see 1 hacker every 10 hours in a game. In this case, master can just votekick them. There aren't too many bugs.
It's free, but you can also have micro payments, which is like paying cash for in-game items. These give quite bonuses yes, especially with summon cells (monsters) to fight for you. Cash can get good cells :/ Cash users will get annoying, but you can always be a cash user too, or just fight for fun instead of to win (it's still quite possible to beat a cash user, it's not very hard).
This game can be quite hard as a newb/noob and you will get your ass handed to you every time you are alive by low-level people who are pros (have mains or good friends who teach). This is why I will offer to teach anyone who decides they will play it, if you go on Canda/USA 1 server and add Masiel/Vehuel/Xotick.

Sword of the New World is a good MMO for people who like to play alone. Good graphics, good population.
It's good for people that like to play alone especially because you control 3 characters at once, or at least you have three in your 'party'. Check out the site if you want.
Magic World Online is another Diablo type game. Not really dark, but Diablo-like gameplay. Just good 'Magic World Online MMO'.
I kinda found it confusing when someone first called it Sword of the new world, since It's mainly referred to as Granado Espana or whatever. The thing that made me completely disinterested in that game was it's gothic/baroque style of fashion and stuff. Kinda shallow/prejudice, but it really irks me.
Frigid, you never really mentioned this... should it be a multiplayer game? should it be new?
If you want a new, dark, first person adventure (no shooting), there is an excellent game called Penumbra (overture, and black plague). It's a dark and scary puzzle/adventure game. It's not something that you play for very long though, since it doesn't take too long to complete, and not much replayability, but it's better than nothing IMO.
A game I liked playing that's also single player, and adventure, but also older, is called Outcast. If you are interested in a great single player adventure, this is another entertaining game.
There's also postal 2, but that's also not multiplayer.
You might like Mythos, as someone suggested, but I haven't played it personally. I don't think it's a dark game though
Im highly recommending Baldur's Gate. Both games of the original series (and their expansions) should be played. When saying "the original series" i mean the very first games for PC, not Dark Alliance (which is for PS.)
You can download some mods, to play the first game with a newer game engine, if you think its too old in some manner. Just do some research, youll surely find something useful for you.
Dungeon Runner is a Diablo-style free online game by NCsoft. It uses a free to play, but limited items type of point of view. I never really played it, but I've heard it's decent quality. Mythos would probably be better than it, but that's not released yet.
I've been playing just all of my old games lately. My favorites of old rarely seem to fail me when I'm getting anxious for a new game to come out. Lately, it's been Ultima 8 that I've loaded on Dosbox. Kind of a confusing game, but the graphics are just the tops and I love the exploring and the dark rainy day atmosphere of it.
Alright well if u are board of WoW then i say go back to the classic MMO try Runescape if u want to get back into a MMO but if not then i suggest Warcraft 3 or go with heroes 5 great game
