If you're the nostalgic gamer, then you'll love this. Some guy made a chest with the cover being a giant NES controller. And it's not just a façade either. He actually dismembered an NES controller and made the chest cover complete with big buttons. Just click the link and check it out.
I was gonna be a smartass and ask if you could play Metroid with it, but then I looked at the video, and he actually does have it wired-up -- it's a functional controller.
Like, OMG.
I might have preferred it be a coffee table instead of a chest. You could have the lid of the coffee table lift up and store stuff inside it. Not as spacious, but anyway, I can't believe you actually came back Mutton.

Actually, it is a coffee table. It's got a glass top in the first pic. And it says in the caption, "Kyle Downes' NES coffee table isn't just an awesome coffee table, oh no."
It's really not at all hard to get the giant controller working. Like, it doesn't take an education in electronics or anything. Just buy the buttons, and replace each wire from the small/regular controller button switch to the giant controller button switch.
Obviously though the thing takes lots of time and effort to make, and it's still cool.
It's really not nearly as amazing as many other things people do though, like fancy/extreme computer case mods or fancy themed cakes.
I guess I just picture a coffee table as having legs. This thing here strikes me more as a cradenza.
I know what you mean. When I think coffee table I think something low to the ground with short legs. But this is still FUCKING AWSOME!

Except that everybody makes the cool PC cases. Nobody makes NES controllers. (And the fancy themed cakes arn't really that hard.)
