Fuck. Hope your Diablo 3 playing will help with your recovery (if there is any)! As Daemaro said, it explains your absence in the URT and your necro Religion Thread. Hopefully your humour, intellect and wit didn't diminish during those 6 months! :Thumbs Up:
All I can say is you have to play the game yourself; different people have different opinions. Overall the game is good, addictive and really fun. Personally I think Blizz fucked up a bit, but it's something you'll understand laaaaaaaaater in the game (Level 60 and onwards).
You can buy all your stuff on the AH and have the best possible gear which take away many hours of fun farming for your own gear. Yes you can choose not to use the AH, but with it snickering at you while you get your ass handed to you in Inferno, you tend to take the shortcut and buy some stuff.
And don't forget to get an authenticator; a mobile or physical one. Many people's accounts has been hacked!
Another thing is the static outline of the environment...it sucks, with your 3de or 4th playthrough, you know the outline and exits by heart. BUT the random dungeons and events kinda make up for it. As I said you have to get first hand experience to really know!
Hope your recovery will be smooth sailing from here on out!

I am unaware of any such handicap, although I will admit my hand-eye coordination is unreliable at the moment. My doctor claims this is a short-term issue I can overcome and indeed has even suggested that gaming could be theraputic in -small- doses (har har).
I just started my witch doctor and am making my way through act1, huzzah! (Anyone on the north american server feel free to join me, but no spoliers!)
As for what it was like catching up on 6 months of life, I'm still taking that in. It is definitely exciting to have so much to read at one time.
I just started my witch doctor and am making my way through act1, huzzah!
Might want to reconsider that. They broke (arguably) your most powerful offensive spell this patch almost completely and won't be fixing it till next patch (god knows when that will be). Also I hear some passives have been broken since launch and still have not been fixed for wd.
edit: as much as the negativity is depressing, there are some valid concerns in the QQ imo. Glaring bugs that would have been apparent if the patch was tested even once before making it live are fueling much of the rage. It gives the general impression that the QA and development team don't even test the effects of what they do in-game, they just make up pretty numbers on spreadsheets and call it a day.
Cleared to the king with the monk now. A much faster experience, even discounting the fact I did a little less wandering around. I think it's time to give it a rest before I try another character class.
Update 3: (I should really just blog this, but I forgot how)
Cleared the hurf-blurf king with a demon hunter, showcasing an even faster time than with the monk. I didn't really think it could get any easier or faster, but.. it did. The chain/snare arrow skill is outstanding, impale rips the tougher baddies a new one, and caltrops/invisible skills who's name escapes me are both nice escape mechanisms when out of position.
Got around 3/4 of the way through a clear with the wizard and had to quit out of frustration. She clears slower than my first (witch doctor), has the least dependable aoe (never thought i'd lust after the original charged bolts), and really just screams boring. I wanted to believe it would become much better after the first freebie runes, but that didn't really help the situation at all. I can imagine getting around to finish her up will take some willpower.
Going to put the barbarian through his paces tomorrow. I suspect he will end up somewhere between the monk and demon hunter, especially since i've stashed quite a few goodies for him to start using asap.
Here's hoping the silly trial mode doesn't last the full 72 hours. >_<;; Good night everyone!
It's awesome seeing you again Proletaria! I've missed your comments quite a bit! Do what you can to sometimes drop back to these forums after your game unlocks fully!
Oh don't let normal mode fool you into thinking the game is easy.
Simply comparaing the initial "trial" clear times here since that's all I have to go on. 20ish hours and couting since I bought the digital copy and i'm still unable to progress ughrrr... (I know that was tounge-in-cheek, but i'm frustrated :X)

Thanks! This community is a lot of fun. I hope to keep myself healthy enough to remain a poster for a while yet. And if any of you happen by the NA server, feel free to look me up! Time will tell just how sucked in i'll get past act1 normal.
Barbarian is more fun than monk, coming from a guy playing monk as main >.<
Just finished my barb clear (wizard should be done in a few hours for point of saddening comparison) and I am inclined to say that up to level 9 they were both really fun. I think leap/cleave/hammer is potentially the most broken thing for newbieland questing though. Those massacre bonuses from chain-pulling put my barb nearly a level ahead of all my other characters without any significant side-tracking. Then again, I had a rare weapon all ready for my barb the moment he hit level 5 so that probably contributed a lot to his success. I'm in the process of stash-transfering the few wizard-esq magical items to see if it helps her at all.
-------------
Update: Giving the wizard the benefit of a few magical items greatly increased her viability, but she's still fairly 1-dimensional. Then again, this will be clear number five so that could be largely my boredome with solo act1 normal registering.
-------------
Update2: All characters level 9-10 and done with my not-so-generous helping of content.
Welcome back good sir!! I was wondering where your post was! It will be nice to have your wit and thoughtful comments to the site once again!!
The Sorc definitely gains some power towards the mid levels, although mine is only in the 30's (only play with friends).
The Monk is bar far my most fun class but again only in the 20's play this char with a different set of friends.
I have a 60 WD and they start off slow and destroy up till hell mode, they have some very nice utilities. There is obvious balancing needed as once you reach inferno there is only three abilities you can use and most builds are very similar at the moment. Pets are sadly useless very quickly in this game. Once some more balancing is done I think they will become a power house class till nerfs The main issue you'll find is resource management becomes a problem later on.
Hmm what have you missed... QQ basically ever time info is released or a change is made. The most recent patch has made DH's want to quit and they nerfed inferno but fixed Band-Aid loot issues for end game and it's much better than before. Legendaries are a joke and will be getting a buff in the future. Patch 1.1 will be major balancing and PvP... no time table for this change.
Overall QQ is from people who came late into the Diablo series or people who forgot how bad D2 was at vanilla launch. I think it’s a great game with obvious issues, but there is lots of potential. It's been depressing coming here over the last month, I was hoping the whiners and haters would leave, but they are so butt-hurt they are sticking around bashing as much as they can. Some claims are valid but from the big picture it’s a bunch of sad nostalgic ranting thinking that D2 was LoD from the start and people used to easy gear cause of dupes/hacks. Oh and a predictable rough first week of launch.
Welcome Back!!!
EDIT: Oh I forgot, melee is more gear dependent but once you get the gear... melee > range in inferno.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
While I wasn't around back when you were, I'll still wish you a warm welcome back to the forums. Congrats on making it out of your coma!
I also like how you've got your priorities straight: still catching up on the rest of the world, but you've already got D3 installed. Good stuff. ;D
My honest opinion is that D3 is amazing. It's sucked up so much of my life and it's really fun to just blast through the game. Well worth the time spent on it.
Good luck with getting out of the trial account and I hope you have lots of fun in D3!
Barbarian is more fun than monk, coming from a guy playing monk as main >.<
Mmm, it's a tough one for me. The monk is also my main character (Act 1 Inferno), while my bard is level 38 in Act 2 Nightmare. I just like the power that I feel when I play the barb (2-handed power shot explosions ftw). The monk has a lot more survivability which I like. I'll give my true verdict once my barb is level 60 as well. :Thumbs Up:

Yeah, I have been reading quite a bit on how poison dart essentially defines the class at the moment (with a rune I already have to boot) and that's not terribly appealing. Then again, i'm just as confident blizzard will roll the balance wheel before I can make much headway. After all i'm still stuck in trial mode for what appears to be another day. :/

I just defeated the skeleton king and the game informed me that it's the end of the line for the (trial I suppose) version of the game i'm playing. :/
EDIT: Found a blue post suggesting it takes 72 hours for payment to process on a digital download! ARHGHGHGH
Perhaps i'll level a wizard to kill time. I would sleep, but... well i've had enough sleep for a while.
Edit: I can see what you mean about the WD being comparatively slow. I'm smashing monsters exponentially faster on the monk.
Every single complaint can be boiled down to; 'Inferno is hard'
Thanks for the input and well wishes everyone!

I'm still quite torn, actually. I like the witch doctor and that was my pre-beta pick, but every class has it's perks.
Thanks Don! It's good to see so many familiar faces. Very subtle hint taken.

You're too kind. I'm going to have a hard time living up to that appraisal. >D
