The fact that people are still discussing the whole "being gay phenomenon" and not taking it as granted, is shameful to us all.
The most ridiculous thing probably out there is that people still believe that gays "choose" to be gay. I personally it's ridiculous, since it's scientifically proven that they don't and that it's such an obvious act of desperation to blame people on their "disabilities".

I never could understand why some people can't understand that... I get it could be hard to get for some, specially those who are against homosexuality, but insisting in something like "choosing" to be gay and things of that kind is absurd...

When people believe in something their entire life, and then overwhelming evidence disproves it, it's often the case that they will find a way to blame people for it and use religion as an excuse. It's sad, because religion is really an amazing thing, but it's the truth. A disturbing truth.
Meh. Same case on this other forum I visit, discussing gays negatively is OK but you mention one negative word in front of some loose religious concept and you get a warning.
I find that it is rather common with most forums. Just change who you can discriminate against and who you cannot discriminate against and you have different forums. :/

Can't say I expected it to happen here, though.
Why not? It's a forum after all.

But responding to your point, a democracy is made to make a decision based on POLITICAL reasons, not to force ones religious beliefs on another person. That's not democracy. That's discrimination.
Democracy is when everyone has a voice in what is going on. When only the religious get the voice, it is a theocracy.
If people want a theocracy, they can go right over to Israel or Iran, both work.

Religion is often times just used as a tool for people to hide behind. Not every religious person does that, but many, if not most, do.

Precisely. That's what's so sad. Religion is such a good thing in many ways, but the way people use it nowadays, makes me want to lose faith entirely.

I disagree. Religion is nothing more then a tool, similar to a screw driver or a sword. It is not good, and it is not bad. The people are what are good or bad. They either use the tool to help people, or to hurt people. At least, that's how I see it.

I think that's implicit in Irrational's post, let me say it as I understood it: Religion has a great potential for good in many ways, but it's misused nowadays hurting people...
I don't care what two people want to do with their lives. It's not my life, it's not my place on this world to tell other people what they should or should not do, and it's not my place to make it illegal because it's a choice made by adults, a choice that does not harm anybody directly or indirectly. Those religious fanatics can bite me, no one is sin-free, and if the gay couple don't care about religion, they shouldn't force it onto them. I don't get why they persecute gay people for not conforming with their biblical doctrines, yet they do not persecute Jews or Muslims or whatever for not doing the same things that they themselves do. Same goes for Muslims. It's just idiotic.
Fanatical religious people is what really slows society down from making huge progress mostly because they unwilling to look at common sense and logic. It's frustrating and annoying, but we just have to find a way to deal with them because I'm honestly sick of hearing politicians saying "Gay Marriage is bad because God said it's bad."

Worst thing ever.
And then when we show them this, they turn a blind eye.
That's why I believe that Christianity needs a new Bible. It's nice to be traditional, but it is a new age. The Bible is probably only half "Word of God", and half opinions from the writers. And besides, the Bible's books was handpicked by a group of people somewhere in the 14th century. So what people call the Word of the Lord is actually the wanting so of a group of 6 people in the 1500's.
13If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
14And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
16And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
17And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
21Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
That's the actual passage. The quote is overly simplified, but correct nonetheless.

is basically the same with different words
Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions
And then when we show them this, they turn a blind eye.
Hahaha, you wouldn't begin to believe some of the sick and twisted things in the Bible.
And people wonder why I am anti-Abrahamic religions.
