There's dozens of versions of the quote, as well. Some say the man must pay 100 shekels of silver if he lies about his wife's virginity, and others say the man must be whipped. And I love the way the wife is to be punished if she isn't a virgin: "But if the man was right and there is no proof that his bride was a virgin, the men of the town will take the woman to the door of her father's house and stone her to death."
On the topic of marriage, in the US our Declaration of Independence starts in the second paragraph.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
I believe that everyone should have the right to pursue what they believe will make them happy. I lived in San Francisco and the East Bay for over a decade, never had any problems gay people. On adoption, that could be difficult for the kid as some have pointed out but what the alternative for kids today. An orphanage or foster parent? Very often that doesn't work out too well either. Maybe with a good background check it might be a better alternative.
That is the thing though Vegas, these people are declaring that their rights are being taken away when someone else gets the right to get married. That and the asinine idea that it's some kind of "special right" which is complete b.s. They declare that they want equality, but they then fight to keep equal rights from happening. They have no honor.
Plus, I have a friend who has a foster mother. She wants to be adopted but cannot. A gay couple wants to adopt her, but they cannot. I ask you this: Is it worse to not have a family, or have 2 mothers or 2 fathers?

I am kind of happy that my country makes things to accept more the people. We take everybody! You are welcome in Argentina from anywhere in this planet! Your religion doesn't matters, your age doesn't matter, not even your taste or money matters; just need to come.

Personally I don't care. Like Seth and Siaynoq have said, I hate the fact that the government needs to have any part in a marriage, and marriage wasn't even around when the bible was written as far as I know. If it was it certainly wasn't like it is today.
I think the way the bible interprets it is just a sworn commitment between a man and a woman to God. That's the Christian version anyhow I'm pretty sure. Now it's all legal, and even the Churches have taken it further than I think it was really meant to go. You're required to be married now or you're "living in sin", which is not the case you can be committed to someone and not be "married" by today's standards.
Honestly though, it doesn't matter to me because marriage is just paperwork in my opinion. Adoption is a different thing all together though. I guess it comes with good and bad parts. I do feel like a child should have a father and mother and that having two same sex parents will cause adversity, but adversity also isn't a horrible thing. In the end it just comes down to "Can they be good parents to a child?" and I think a gay couple is just as capable as a straight couple.
