Know what you discuss. There's bound to be flaming with someone who thinks Dragonforce is not repeptetive. I don't mind the lyrics though. Hey, you know what sounds like them besides the vocals?

Okay obviously your deaf. They really aren't that repetive... whether it be from song to song or from second to second in the song you're playing. It changes a lot. And they have like 1-2 min Guitar Solos (Through the Fire and Flames is almost exactly 2 minutes, very lil bit less or more, I forget),
And I was kidding about the flaming thing I really don't care, but watch out for Equinox.

"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
It really amazes me how they can keep their songs not so repetitive for like 7 minutes (that's their average song time I guess well it's more like 5 or 6 minutes)

Sorry, I don't have time for Dragonforce. I was just supporting you by giving a link to a repetetive band and you ignore that. I read reviews and stuff like that. Half the time my judgement is from mixed reviews.

It takes 3 minutes to youtube a song from an artist. I'm not sure why you would feel you don't have time for a band.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
These two genres fit my guitar playing style perfectly. I am not a big fan of speed or black metal due to the random/solo playing throughout the entire song. I love starting any song with either a bass intro or guitar solo...then progressing to the chorus of the riffs and in between some short soloing. Metallica (Old School), Godsmack, Disturbed, Hatebreed, Unearthed, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Capital Punishment (My band) and others. Most people here already know that I can care less about lyrics. Lyrics to me personally is just the band singing the song to those of whom do not understand the music language. I can listen to heavy guitar riffs/solos and know exactly how the guitarist/band are stating. It can be one of the crappiest songs to most, but i would love it for the engenious language the guitarist is depicting.
Been an electric lead for about 5 years now and have progressed heavily in my talent due to some of these bands.

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
Yeah I've listened to quite a bit of Kamelot. Roy Khan has a really great voice. I just never feel there is enough umph in the music. It's more of like a laid back metal. More like rockish. Lost and Damned is a good song by them though. Feels as if I was at a circus.
About all this Dragonforce fuss: As typical power metal as typical power metal gets, and that's normally not a good thing, but in Dragonforce' case you could say it is because the whole band was more or less created as a joke. The only interesting aspect of the music is the speed, much like any random guitar shredder (Malmsteen anyone?), which may be interesting at first but I find it boring as hell. However, I've seen them live twice and I must say Dragonforce is an awesome liveband. Really. I don't like their music much but those shows were unforgettable.
One of the main reasons I don't like Power Metal (no, I don't.) is the overall cheesyness. Few bands get around this. Be it Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce, Manowar, Hammerfall, whatever - it disgusts me at times. I don't hate it, though. In fact I've been really into this music, and I still enjoy some of it. Blind Guardian is a great band in my opinion. They don't exaggerate in the same way as most other of these bands (intentionally or not).
My own favourite subgenres are the more odd, progressive, strange, experimental and unique styles. The more unique the music, the more appealing it is to me. I do listen to most kinds of metal and a whole lot of other music.
Who ever said metal has to be either brainless noise or nerds in tight leather singing songs about freedom, steel and dragons? It goes oh so much deeper. . .
I don't plan on writing a novel but I could say a few words about some certain genres and bands.
First off is the obvious Modern Progressive Metal. This is a genre so diverse it boggles your mind thinking about it. Basically every band has their own unique touch, and that's why I love it. Personal favourite albums would probably be Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor and Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness. Yes, I must include the albums. They are simply masterpieces.
Sludge. This is what most people think of when they hear the term 'intelligent metal.' That being said, this is actually a kind of an experimental merge between Hardcore Punk, Doom and Metalcore, as strange as it may seem. The obvious gods of the genre are ISIS and Neurosis.
I should stop for now before I get too exited. . . I could go on aaall day.
Just a few more short notes:
Finntroll was the first real metal band I started listening to and they're still definitely one of my favorites.
Agalloch is the most wonderful thing since. . . well, ever.
Burzum is god.
I was listening to Tiger Army while writing this.

"So I like climb out the window and I fall because we’re on the third floor , but it’s cool, because I land where my arm used to be, but it’s not there so it doesn’t hurt. And I’m thinking, yeah, man, this no arm thing is kinda chill."
And the pointless post of the year award goes to.... you! Well done.
Anyway back on topic, I first saw Dragonforce in a bar with about 50 people and loved them for what they are i.e. extremely cheesy but talented musicians. I don't take them seriously in the slightest but that doesn't take away from how awesome I think they are. Nothing beats having a few beers with good friends and then going to a Dragonforce gig and singing the night away :D.
I am surprised at how well they are doing now though, I'm pleased for them but it was nice seeing them at smaller venues.

Lyrics are the most important. It's like poetry.
To you perhaps, but I'm a big fan of instrumental music. Lyrics aren't so important there :D.
I know, they're awesome! And they're coming here two weeks before I'm old enough to enter the club they're playing at. . . hopefully I'll get another chance though. I'd love to see them live sometime.

How is Malmsteen a random guitar shredder. Hes one of the greats of the neo-classical shredders.
I have to admit, things like "Apreggios from Hell" are just blind shreds all over the place with no feeling at all.
His stuff like Black Star or Blue is great tho.
Well, all of his old stuff is bomb. But now he just plays fast with no feeling or emotion.

Few solo electric guitarists are any good in my opinion. Fast, impressive, but I don't give a damn. Shredding mostly lacks feeling. It just doesn't do it for me. I don't really care if he's the greatest neo-classical shredder or not, the fact that he IS a neo-classical shredder is what bothers me.

Don't even compare Sonata Arctica to these other bands. Metal is about the only relationship. To have Sonata and Dragonforce in the same sentence disgusts me.
