Diablo and Diablo II are the greatest action RPGs ever made. And what makes them so great? The people who just own the name, or the people that designed, programmed it and created it? I think the answer is obvious.
So what do we want? We want another great action RPG from the artists, game designers and programmers that made Diablo and Diablo II - that's what we want.
And guess what - It comes out October 31st of this year.
The lead producer, designer, artist, and programmer all left Blizzard in 2003. And have created their third great action RPG, following Diablo 1 and 2 – Hellgate:London
The core group that left Blizzard to start flagship studies:
Bill Roper: Producer - Diablo, Diablo II
Max Schaefer: Project, Design and Environment Art Director on Diablo II.
Erich Schaefer: Project Lead, Design Lead and Art Director on Diablo and Diablo II.
David Brevik: Project Lead, Design Lead and Lead Programmer on Diablo and Diablo II.
The wait is finally over.
And if you think the people that just own the name to Diablo can make a better action RPG than the people that actually created Diablo, you are very confused about what it takes to design and make a great game.
hmm for me its not the creators, its the concept of venturing into hell and killing a massive amount of deamons and shit. hmm i shouldent speak till i play hellgate thou

its blizzards way of making it the perfect game. hellgate released a crap beta with no story. blizzard would make it half-perfect by beta, and then when people find bugs, and fix them. then make the game better, and perfect.
a beta form of diablo 3 by blizzard would easily pwn HL. no contest, they are just too good at what they do, developing gods is what blizzard is. its not the peices of what once was the team, its the actual team and franchise itself, like a football team. just because some players went somewhere else doesnt mean that they will be better than the first, most of the time its worse. blizzard as a company itself sets the standard, and no matter how many new guys they get in there, they will still hold that high standard and excellence that has always been blizzard.
I still think Hellgate will be good, and popular. Which it will be. But yes, it will be no replacement for Diablo. Already stated my opinion on this before

It requires players to PPM but only if they want to be good and get good items.... which is any player......
Secondly..... It's absolutely nothing like Diablo.......
I want a new diablo not a cheap imitation.
I will admit, I might play the game if my friend buys it, but nothing more than that.
If you buy they game you are part of the problem not part of the cause.
What is the cause you ask? It is the release of Diablo 3
I have seen in person Hellgate London, at E3. It looked pretty darn good to be honest. I don't know where you got your information from but you are truelly off mark.
It will be Pay to Play. When you are playing the PtP, you will get items that are ADDED extra to the game. Similar to an expansion with any other game. They will also be adding a large stash with PtP, more character slots, Hardcore game play, guild housing, acution house and battle arena's.
If you buy the game, how would you being adding to the problem? Most people that purchase this, will most likely dump it soon as Diablo 3 is released.

Inside information. The ex-Blizzard employee's left on good terms to develope this new company. It is rumored that Diablo 3's release was pushed back to give Hellgate a chance to launch and pick up revinue.

Firstly, Hellgate will never ever been a Diablo game, it is completely different to Diablo in soo many ways, fps, guns etc.
Mythos looks more of a Diablo clone than Hellgate... sorry to burst your bubble.
Second, Blizzard's high standards will always be kept, no matter who is developing, producing, leading, programming the game.
Just look at Starcraft 2, even though im not really a starcraft fan, i loved playing custom games with my friends through the late nights and into early mornings. There are going to be some amazing custom games comming out on SC 2, i just can't wait to play them.
Diablo will always be Diablo, nothing can replace its originality, going down a cathedral down 16 levels into hell, although it was changed somewhat in Diablo 2, instead of going down at a single point, you moved throughout countryside, caves, dunegons.

Why would Blizzard push back their game so another company can get profits?
They are a company WANTING to make MONEY, although they are doing that with the success of World of NoLife(WoW), most rumors that are most likely true, is D3 was made, it sucked ass, dumped, started from scratch with Blizzard playing a direct role in how it was progressing.
We will see D3 in due time, just how long until we do is the problem...

Well.... pretty much your saying HL will have players who get screwed over for items, well and everything else.... if they don't pay up......
Which is what I said....
The problem is people thinking this is anything like Diablo and buying it for that reason...........
Blizz isn't going to let another company get their sales...... They ditched the company and don't deserve a chance to reign on Blizz's parade.... no company would ever give another company a fighting chance.

Couldn't have said it better myself
Now about HL... I am going to play it, but I am not gonna sit there and start comparing it to Diablo. I am going to play it like it's its own game. It might be fun... Looks kind of fun. I am a fan of FPS, although I despise Halo, and it looks entertaining....
But I would much prefer to sink my teeth into a new Diablo.

Why would Blizzard push back their game so another company can get profits?
Currently Blizzard's revinue earned from WoW is huge. They already have 1 pending project of another title, Starcraft 2. They don't have to launch because technically opening all those CSR positions would take lots of revinue away from their company in training and startup costs. So there is a dual purpose for setting back a purposed release.

Screwed? No. This is additional items and content added to the game. Much like paying for an expansion.

No. People are buying it cause its a rare FPS RPG.

They would if its already going to take a huge chunck of their finances to put in the start up money to run 3 large multiplayer games with customer support.
Blizzard is giving Flagship a chance to startup their company. According to my sources I just learned about, they may have had the chance to announce either or projects back in April.
I cannot verify the above information, so believe it or don't. I just came onto this information recently.
