No, I mean outdated technology. The 360 runs on the Xenon, alone, alone, while the PS3 runs on cells, which have been designated as the future of computer processing. They are slated to be released to the public for installation in the coming years. The world's fastest super computer currently is running on cells.
Please don't pull the "only rich kids buy PS3" stuff, it's not a mature or factual argument. I work at Subway and am still paying my PS3 off- I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination.
I also never said that poor people buy 360's- it's a great American-made gaming console that is probably the last of it's kind. It will work for now, but as the years go on, at least by the end of the next decade, it will be completely outdated.
good points but..naw dude..im TOTALLY pulling that card. Maybe the majority of console owners are adults but im sure at least half of those owners are kids, as in, the parents still own it of course. But what i mean is...Lets go to....a middle school level. A few kids talking about gaming, who will have the 360? most of the kids because that is the system their parents were willing to buy because it didnt cost that much and they would never spend that much money on something they thought was silly in the first place. But who has the ps3???? the rich kid, the kid who has parents that give them everything. Games are still for kids too ya know, and for them the rich kid will always have the ps3 when the average kid will have a 360. And you are employed that is a bit different of course.
But overall, if statistics show most consoles sitting in kids rooms then i will most certainly pull that card because i have no doubt it would be the rich kid with the ps3.

But, you're still heavily stereotyping. Nearly anyone that can afford an Xbox 360 can afford a PS3 now. It's only another $100. In our economy, $100 means nothing. It's less than a month worth of gas. If you can afford, what is it, $300-something for a 360, you can afford a PS3. It may mean one less stop to McDonald's a week, or one less road trip, or missing that concert, but you can do it.
I'm convinced that the majority of middle-school level kids buy 360's because of its games- lets face it, currently it has the widest selection of great games, and the future couple years are looking promising.
That, and of course, kids that old are heavily susceptible to peer pressure and wanting to fit in, and since so many kids have one, it can easily become a way of judging a kid's worth. Yes, it happens- I was just teaching some 400-something of them at a music camp these past two weeks and I even heard kids saying stuff like that.
But, I'm willing to bet it's really the great game selection- it really does (and so does the Wii.) That's really the major issue for the PS3- many of the games that were going to be exclusives are now being changed at last minute to multiplatform. It's both a good and a bad thing for me- as a gamer, I'd say it's good because more people get to enjoy the games I enjoy. As a PS3 Fan Boy, it's a bad thing because it spells the end for any hope of the PS3 ever picking up. Now, I have faith that Sony has learned it's lesson and the next time around will be a force to be reckoned with, but that's generally how revolutions- even technological ones- are recieved at first. Hopefully the next wave of next-gen consoles will have learned from Sony's mistakes and Microsoft's blessings- great games.
You can have the greatest system on earth, but if you have no good games to play on it, you might as well just own a rock with a DVD Drive strapped to it.

lol the rock thing was funny....
Umm i dont know to many people that would outcast someone for having a ps3
And i dont think its a matter of $100 for kids in most cases. I think its a matter of parents that dont approve of video games. Im talking about those kids, not the kids with cool parents that say, "its only $100, and now we can play mgs4, possibly the coolest game to hit a console since mario", im talking about the parents that buy the systems reluctantly, that feel video games are dumb and kids could be outside...you know..chucking dirt at their faces and all that other healthy outside activity that kids do ( i actually used to do that with friends..chucking dirt....fun for a while, but in the end it just kinda sucks lol). But the kid begged, and begged, and begged, so the parent goes "well, i guess he has been good, we can get the silly game once" and those are the parents that say..."why would we get you the $500 console when we can get you the $400 dollar one (this is when the first came out apparently, im not backspacing for the prices lol) that is JUST as good!"
That may be stereotyping, but that is how i have seen parents react all too often in my area, maybe its different in other places but from what i've seen its usually the same story.
But if your employed, it certainly comes down to what you want in the system economics are not even worth worrying about, if you want quality pay for it. Lets hope the ps3 can give some other titles as epic as mgs4

Oh, I see what you mean. Well, my main point is that if you can afford a 360, you can most likely afford a PS3, which still stands- the parents could still afford the PS3, but found more value in a less pricey system. Which is fine, but I'm just saying that if you can afford a 360, you can most likely afford a PS3.
That may be stereotyping, but that is how i have seen parents react all too often in my area, maybe its different in other places but from what i've seen its usually the same story.
Yeah, that's normally the way I would have gone with my own arguments in this thread, but everyone here seems to claim that they're 25 and buy everything themselves... Well, I'm sure you know what I mean

It will, but they'll most likely be available on nearly every other system, which is kind of the problem. I'd also like to say that quality is in the eyes of the beholder- I mean, for these few coming years, games are not going to require much more than what the 360 can handle. I'm just talking about the future, really, when games start becoming so enormous and put so much demand on systems that such things like cells (if done correctly) can handle.
Now, on another note, I think it would be wonderful to see the functionality of the Wii with the game selection of a 360 and the power of a PS3. That would be amazing.
Edit--
Not to say that the Wii doesn't have great games, but, let's face it, the 360 is currently offering more (in number) great games.

Yes that would be amazing to see. And ya, i know what you mean about the everyone claiming they buy everything themselves here.
And i have no doubt ps3 is the future. Those graphics are so beautiful i think..in ALL seriousness, it is an incredible mankind defining achievement in terms of art. Who would have thought back in rome making sculptures would eventually turn into something as amazing as the graphics of the ps3. The graphics dont make a game of course, but just in terms of beauty Sony has definitely hit the spot.

I honestly don't think they're be a noticeable difference between the PS3 FFXIII and the 360 XIII. And to be honest, I wouldn't care if their was, I'm not some retard that goes "wow, purty". I'll play the game of it's fun, not by what it looks like.

Yes Sony has hit the spot with graphics, but the 360 still has some light if not alot of potential in its already wide slection of games.
Bungie still has Halo 3 updates and Halo Wars to go with Bioware is going on the Mass Effect franchise Then there's still Gears of War 2 to be reckoned with
Currently, the 360 is winning by just being the oldest and never dissapointing. Honestly, the only major title that I saw with the PS3 is Metal Gear Solid 4, already being the last of the series

Also, fuck Britney, LEAVE SONY ALONE! IT'S GOING THROUGH ALOT RIGHT NOW! *Laughs silently to himself.*
Seriously though, the Wii's controllers and functionality with the 360's graphics and dayum...
I think with the sheer number of x-box's over ps3's and their large number of good games (exclusives and muliplatforms) like Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, and Far Cry 2 many gifts and personal purchases will be geared towards the 360. that and the friggin lack of anything even mediocre for the wii. Sadly wii may still sell the most because of the friggin casual gamers who buy anything without looking into it first.
Also a quick response to those who say that PS3 is superior it is true graphically speaking, but multiplatform games run on higher frame rates on the 360 its common knowledge not to mention the Orange Box on PS3 was riddled with bugs and error all over the place and that may be Valves fault, but I love Valve too much to blame them haha. I personally have a 360 and got a Wii for free from my work! I do want a few PS3 exclusived for example MGS4, and Valkeria Chronicals (did i spell that right?) But overall i must say the library of games for the 360 is more robust with exclusive action games like Gears of War and Halo along with Mistwalker's exclusive J-rpgs for those that are into that is currently giving PS3 a run for its money as far as who the superior console is. Because in the end it comes down to who has the best games and in my mind it is currently 360 (aside from nintendo's fantastic first party games like Mario Galaxy, and SSBB)

PS3 is superior but it doesnt live up to its potential.
PS3 needs more exclusives.
It needs new approach, Needs to give money to these 3rd party developers and get exclusives, I hate the PSP dash and I want them to change that, playstation home is cool but I think they should have put money and time into something more worth while.
Also Xbox you have to pay to play online, I know a million people are going to be like "Well it isnt that much" "The live is petter then ps" well, Why would I want to pay for my system, my games, other accessories AND another 100 dollar network adaptor to have to pay to play online?
In a year or 2 ps3 and 360 will be about equal and on the same page.

thats absolutly incorrect the reason people buy the wii is because it is a much cheaper system and it appeals to familys well there are not many games where you blow someones head off on the wii while there are plenty on the xbox and the ps3.

Just look at the ps2. Even today with the ps3 and the Xbox 360 it still sells very well. With the amount of super good games on it and it's awsome price I can understand! Now I can see the same thing happening with the ps3, lots of exclusives and great games. The ps3 also features a blu-ray disc reader which is a bonus. Nah, I'm pretty sure that the ps3 will do just fine when the Xbox 720 comes out in 2 years. We haven't seen the full potential of the ps3 yet and we will maybe reach it in a year or two. By the time that Microsoft releases its new xbox, the ps3 will have superb graphics....maybe enough to compete with the early xbox 720 games.
There is no way the tech in a new xbox console will be matched by the PS3. With the price of memory the way it is, expect the new consoles to have 6-10 times as much memory as current gen systems, not to mention processors and graphics chips that dominate anything currently on the market. The cards available for PC's already own the current consoles, imagine what 4 more generations of chips will accomplish.
