I took 4 images, did a lot of cutting, created things to fill in the gaps myself, among various other things. And it isn't stained glass effect, I applied like 20 until I got the right version. And I never claimed that I created the images in it, just as well as you could never claim that the dude with the glasses in your siggy was your creation. And I never, EVER, claimed that it was "my" image. Not in any one of my posts. I only put my name in the bottom left hand corner because I did do a lot of work on it, editing-wise, a good 4 hours, which to someone as young an inexperienced in the things of life as me is a long time. Please do not put words in my mouth, Alpha. If you'd like to see some of the work I did do, I still have some of the individual layers and transitions I had saved as different files before adding them to the main picture. I'm done here, you can keep posting about it if you want, but it would be spam, flaming, off topic, or whatever else you might call it.
Atrumentis has final say on the look of almost everything in regards to the comic, it is his project, unless it involves any artistic license with SICK. I technically hold those rights (in conjunction with Silver).
Bbut that doesn't mean you cannot suggest an idea for the look of something, whether it is truly yours, or a image by someone else, but if you do use someone else's image, even if you edit it, don't say it's yours.
I don't think Magistrate actually claimed ownership of the image, I think he said he spend some time editing it to make it more like what people had described as possible looks for the town.

Maybe make a few huts on the outside for people like beastly.
Lol, if you look closely at the trees, some of them are rectangles. They are meant to be huts. Haha, lol @ my drawing.
But could you make some of the text bigger? I can't read some of it.
Yeah, I'll provide a link to a larger version. Um, when I get back to the other computer.
the only problom i have with it is the main gate. "hmmm, heres a big ass gate in the middle of the road thats locked. oh wait, i can just walk around it" lol. but im sure you ment to put a wall around the city.
haha, I know what you mean. But at the moment its just like a weclome sign. In the future though, when we get enough funds, a protective wall will be built around the city, and then it'll be an actual gate lol.
the map reminds me of Tristram for some reason.
I did use Tristram for inspiration, but they are still very different. Ours is bigger, too.
lol, I just realised, the portal location is a bit off... At the moment its on top of a building lol. Its meant to be moved down slightly, next to the Town Square for convenience.
I think the actual comic and associated picture/s need to be in a seperate thread
I was kind of thinking that, but yeah, as AlphaX said, I'll just keep updating the first post. Note that I've turned the comic into links. Everything on the first page will be links except for the latest release so its easiest to read.
Hmm, Elfen, the map you quoted is an old version. Did you do that on purpose? Check the front page, its meant to have the latest version of the map on it. The Tavern should be in the very south side of town.
And err.. Forest has 1 r in it, not two
I was waiting for someone to say that lol. I'll fix it when I can.
I could have sworn the town was more a of a Delta hub type thing. You have to pass through it to go East, West, South or North. Being located at a cross roads, enables us to impose tolls. Thus the cities economy stays strong, especially if the town is located along a major highway, say the main one leading North to Sessheron.
Hmm, thats a good idea. They have to be next to a river though, cause they need a water supply. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I think a good location is on the southside of the Dyre River, with a big impressive bridge that goes over it. It'd be like the Rogue Pass. I mean, the river is huge, there has to be a bridge somewhere on it. (The Dyre River is that sperm-with-two-tails shaped river just above where it says 'Sisters of the Sightless Eye' and just below 'Entsteig').
(wow, Entsteig has two 'T's?? I just realised, lol)
Note: I'm also making a map of the whole of Sanctuary (atleast, as much as we know so far)
Also if you could throw in a few more churches and/or temples. I did have one idea for perhaps the main church or temple, if you take the Notre Dame cathedral, and “chop” it in half, “clone” the Bell towers end, and stick them the two ends together back-2-back so you have 2 towers at each end, for a total of 4. That might make a very impressive looking cathedral for worship. One I would definitely go to were it real. The interior of course would be filled with murals and mosaics.
Very good idea! *takes notes for future town-upgrades*
I was kind of stumped as to what the design should be. But, do you mean to have this as part of the Citadel, or something seperate?
I won't add in more churches though untill there are people who actually want them built. It'd be a waste of money to build something if noone will use it lol.
The official name of Darkjay’s tavern is the new Tavern of the Rising Sun. He bought the rights to the name “Tavern of the Rising Sun” from Ogden, who owned the first one. Well not really bought as Ogden is assumed dead, so he merely took the name upon his death to carry on his legacy so to speak.
Lol, if you say so. I don't like that name though, because its not original, and its kind of turning Ogden's tavern into a widely distributed franchise lol. I hate franchises. But, it is his Tavern, he apparently has the rights to name his tavern that, so I'll make the map accordingly.
the Tavern on the map I imagined to be the size of the Tavern in Tristram, which also has two floors.
Its bigger than that now anyway.
Eventually yes, I imagine you will have to add in other buildings of interest. More libraries and archives, public forums, “senate” buildings, guild houses, barracks’, possibly other taverns, workshops possible artistic ones to emulate the sig shops, etc.
All of that is already fully planned out - except for more churches, but that can be adjusted . I showed the plan to Zubin and LinkX, but its confidential against anyone else seeing it - except maybe for Elfen.
You know, it'd be cool if the map became interactive, like if you click on the Markets then you get linked to the Diablo 3 Art thread. Or if you click on the Library you get linked to the Storyline thread. I have no clue how to do that though. Anyone is welcome to do it for me.
Generally speaking, a town or city is divided into districts or sometimes they are called Prefectures.
Yeah, I had that in mind when I designed it. I guess it'll be more obvious as the town progresses.
Here is an old concept for the Citadel.
That is a cool concept! *takes notes*
Convert him so that we may use his abilities to our own ends! MWAHAHA!

@ Magistrate's interpretation of Deeha'Blothri
HOLY CRAP THAT IS SO COOL *saves to computer for major inspiration*
You definitely did not waste your time on it. The town isn't quite up to that stage yet though, but when it is, it'll very likely look something like that lol. If a website was ever made for Deeha'Blothri, that image would definitely be on it! I actually saw the very bottom right portion of your picture in google before lol. And I was really finding it hard to draw a town from a ground level veiw - until now, atleast.
*just notices the river and bridge* - sweetah. I think our town's river needs adjusting lol, so that it kind of goes through the town, like in your picture.
*gathers mages in preparation for a massive environment-shifting spell*
It's really cool seeing the forums, which is basically just words, displayed as a real place in an imaginative and realistic way.
Also it is fun to see how the world views you, as opposed to how you see yourself. This is something I am really looking forward to seeing come across in the comics. How Atrumentis copies over our personality, quirks, and traits.
Hahah, I LOVE characterisations. I'm pretty sure thats what this is called, interpreting things into characters. For example, one of my lecturers at uni is Hugh Jackman/Wolverine, and another one is Mr Toad, haha.
Note how much I enjoyed the 'immitate the person above you' thread.
Also note that characterisations are part of the reason why I love Alice in Wonderland, because Carroll made characters out of the people around him.
Also also note that I find people who act like stereotypes really fascinating. Or people that seem have lots of 'character'.
Magistrate, really looks cool. though i use that effect to make userbars.
Very nice. Though we can make a separate thread for the series of episodes and another for discussion, like Elfen said.

Well if you include lore, then your fine, according to lore SICK is a legion, a legion is at least 6000 men (60 groups of 100 men, and that is just legionnaires, no decurions, centurions, or supply carriages). Also you have to have all the shop proprietors and dock workers, Prefects (the guys from Caesar III with the little blue capes who beat up ruffians and put out fires), priests, various other temple workers, your basic labourers, who maintain buildings.
You know, it'd be cool if the map became interactive, like if you click on the Markets then you get linked to the Diablo 3 Art thread. Or if you click on the Library you get linked to the Storyline thread. I have no clue how to do that though. Anyone is welcome to do it for me.

I know, you're not in your right mind, but in this case its just impossible to do, sorry. Everyone on Diablo3.com lives here, atleast for the period of time that they are active on the forums. (In my version, atleast).

Nope, i travel in my carriage. I'm forced to live in Darkovia. Thats my home.
I spend the whole of my day here though. I just sleep there.

thats crazy lol. how long does it take you to travel? you wouldn't get much sleep. Oh, I suppose you could teleport... if you had special scrolls or a spell prepared for you. It takes much more effort to force portals to specific places rather than just letting them attach to the nearest portal-point thing. Its like a magnet.

Damn, WP's are gay though. You completely lose the 'far away town' concept. Waypoints are too.. modern, lol. Too convenient. They never mention WP's in the novels, they are more of just a gaming-device.
*sigh*
EDIT: A blacksmith is an artist. If an artist (like Jetrall) wants his workshop there, then sure. But most of them are located in the Markets.
Its kind of like role-playing, but we aren't role-playing for the sake of it. It has to have a real-world equivalent.
WP's are gay? Would you like to play the game without them? eh?
[yeah game devices though :D]
Thanks, it'll be more convenient for me though. And yeah Jeru, there are werewolves in Darkovia. Care to be my neighbor?

Well, just keep in mind that it's all supposed to be an allegory for the site. I do remember winning an armour designing contest shortly after joining up, so I guess I could do that too.. but if you can find someone else on the boards who does something related, that'd be just fine with me.

Exactly how is taking an image and applying the stained glass effect lowered to 33% your own image?
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
