I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I'll start a thread to get some comments about the subject.
I just got in the latest beta wave invite, and abused of it in a day (beta overachiever). My first 2 characters were really slow to get to lvl 13, but then I started stacking +Exp on monster kill. Got a set of about +58 exp on monster kill, then getting to lvl 13 took about half time to reach.
+Exp on monster kill is a nice stat on gear, but it's sure not a "dps" stats that helps you clear monsters faster.
I'm wondering what you guys think, would it be worth it to stack +Exp on monster kill or would it level as fast with dps gears to clear content faster?
If you hit a brick wall pre-inferno, and pre 60, yes. If you dont, no.
Because if you dont hit a brick wall where you need higher runes, or higher stats, there is no point to having +EXP. I would only use +EXP to get to 30 so I can unlock all my skills, after that I would find it useless more than likely, and trade for more killing power. For the most part with your first character this wont even be an issue, as you wont have a choice on gear, you get what you get, spending too much time trying to get gear with appropriate stats is a waste of time.
You only look for optimization in gear/skills once you hit a brick wall, or hit end game.
All the way to hell, you should be focusing on gear that adds to your defensive skills, or offensive, and put those on over any adventure stat. Adventure stats are pretty much meaningless unless you hit a brick wall and need to farm gear, or you hit end game.
if something does more damage, more resources, or more defensive stats, you put it on.

I say till Inferno use +xp instead of magic found as while you are leveling you will still craft most of your items. Later in inferno switch +xp gear to +MF. Simple enough
well, I think that if there's +exp on the best gear available I have for the moment, it's ok. If not, I wouldn't mind wasting more time to level up, if it's going to happen at all. (since, mostly, you'll prefer stats that boost damage and survivability, so faster kills/less deaths).
The rare cases I would prefer +exp are like a helmet with 10 exp in place of one with 10 str if my character is a demon hunter, since str would be of little use.

On topic, I believe that +exp would usually result in a faster leveling experience. It really depends on the gear that you are giving up for the +Exp though. If you're giving up super-amazing-DPS gear then maybe not, but it would most likely speed things up over mediocre DPS gear.

Remember though, Strength = Armor = Damage Reduction!
