- Each class gets 2 hand-equip item types that are class-only.
- Each class gets 19-26 Legendary items that are class-only.
- Each class gets 3 Set items that are class-only.
The distribution of legendary and set class-only hand-items is fairly even. We should expect them to appear(drop) at a common rate.
But what of the remainder? There are 13 hand items that can be used by any class. Some of these, you would expect to be on average more suited to one class. Obvious examples are;
Barb > Every non-stave 2-Hand, Every non-Sword/Dagger 1-Hand
Monk > ?, to a lesser extent; ?
DH > Bow, Crossbow
WD > Stave, Dagger, to a lesser extent; 1hSword
Wiz > Stave, to a lesser extent; Dagger, 1hSword
That leaves shields to be distributed among all fairly evenly.
The above assumptions pose an interesting outcome; either the drop-rate for Barbish items will be lower than your average hand-item, because there are so many, OR, there will be a lot of Barb'ish items with non-Barb stats.
The monk could indeed champion many of these weapons, but I can't see a LOT of non-stave 2-hand weapons and non-dagger/sword 1-hand weapons, going to anyone BUT the Barb. So what are we going to end up with? Barbish items with a lower droprate? or non-barbs running around with 2-hand swords, maces and axes? That would not feel right to me. Sure, you should expect a random oddity here and there, but I would hate to be a barb if 50% of 2-hand mace/axe/sword had stats for another class...
