I was looking for some information for season 3 in the last couple of days but actually didn't found anything on group setups for high greater rifts. Actually I the only thing what I found was the Monk, Barb, 2* DH setup for GR35-40. So this got me Thinking which are other setups which would be great?
Everything I can think of is the double Demonhunter because it is so much damage, but maybe I am stubborn. So what are your Idea's on the topic and more important why choose the setup? Which Synergies do you get?
I would love if there would be some discussion going on here in this thread!
I play WD myself and if i would go with the Carnevil setup play it always feels like we would need an othere WD for CC. Once u hit 50+ i feels like people die if some1 cant do constant cc. For this reason i always play CC doctor when we try to push. Right now tho we hanvt played any good setups (CC-WD, WW-Barb x2, ST-Wiz and CC-WD, WW-bard, ST-Wiz x2) so highest so far is 48. Our biggest problem is that we cant get stuff grouped up good enough. And if mobs arnt grouped up a bit I cant CC all of them.
Theoreticly tho it feels like CC-WD, WW-Barb, DH, Crusader would be an amazing seutp. Group up at blues/yellows while the crusader drags everyting remotly close into the WD's fear spam. And Also going with Nemesis bracers on the WD for more blues/yellows.
If u watch Quin or Alkaizer on twitch you will see them getting 57 keys by speedfarming 47s, zdps monk&crusader + dps dh&barb (the barb also acts as a scout).
I played exclusively wizard in season 3, almost never had a support WD in my 42+ speedrifts, so it's not mandatory. You can clear 45s-46s in less than 3 minutes if the rift is not awful, and u can have crusader or monk as DPS in your group. Like Al_Calzone wrote above you can play even Carnevil WD as DPS (though I never had one in my groups, I don't dismiss it).
Two important pieces I see in all groups are the pull monk and the DPS/scout barb, but maybe even those can be replaced, and not get a penalty more than 2-3 GR levels. LE: confirmed, you can replace the pull monk with a support crusader, the speed is about the same, the penalty is not greater than 1 GR level.
DH is not the only DPS option we have in the game. Let's all try and be a little more open-minded here :).
LE: ofc I was talking softcore here. I have no idea how it is in hardcore.
When it comes to speedfarming, It usually depends on what we farm. If were doing 42-45 grifts (hardcore) we go with zdps WD + CSEP monk + Barb/DH + Me as a TR Wiz. With proper teammates we farm consistently at 1.5-3.5 mins per rift. If we have the DPS for it, we have the WD go ahead, horrify mobs, try to gather them roughly, attack mobs to make them move closer to him etc, put a BBV and then he moves on. The monk then picks up the mobs with CS and I proceed to meteor the collected group down. If we have a Barb he usually runs alongside the WD or even further ahead, if its a DH he swaps between being with the WD and me+monk depending on the mob group size, rift, map, mobs etc.
Alternatively we go for 38-40 which has barb/dh+barb+dh/wiz+wiz usually. A CSEP monk is always openly accepted as he brings a lot more solo dmg than the other DPS' do, ie. hes capable of farming on his own (if we spread out)
When it comes to pushing limits (grift 48-60) its a whole other discussion.
Barb pretty much kills all white mobs, while the DH finishes off the few scattered left over white mobs (he does increased damage against lower HP mobs). The wiz saves his meteors and 1-shots any elite pack.
