What I'm really wondering about is Adria(The Witch from Diablo1), Cain mentions her in his Journal on page 6 and it sounds as if he is troubled by her. And due to the fact that her body was never found a Tristram really confuses me. Considering that you return to Tristram, she may make an appearance.
I would personally be glad if we saw her again in Diablo 3 because she always was mysterious and had many secrets in her riddles if I remember. What do you think of Adria in Diablo 3? Why would they even bother to mention her in Cains journal?
I remember a thread about her awhile ago, but that was before the announcement of Diablo III.
What if the girl we see in the trailer is the child of Adria and the hero from diablo 1 aka the wonderer?
to me she looks to be something like in here 20’s, with would sit fine by the time line saying that it was 20 years sense the whole wonder incident.
This would also be a classic setup for the dream/visions she has, seeing as she would then be directly linkt to the lord of terror himself.
Might even be that she as her father then later (perhaps in the end) will be the final boss.
Just as the wonderer started having visions and a earning to travel to the east. so might she
(maybe not to the east but you know what I mean )
Might even be that she will turn out to be the "spider woman".
Though the spider woman doesn’t look to be all that evil to me for some reason :/
Well, these are just random speculations of a bored mind
hope that they are good for at least some chuckles ^__^
It is hard to imagine who and what Adria truly was beyond a witch. Was she there to watch events unfold, is she part of yet another secretive order or was she there on own account, perhaps to draw on the increasing powers of hell for dark magic or perhaps she wanted to exploit the many adventurers by selling her wares? Perhaps she just knew she could be of aid to a hero to come and moved to Tristram to do her bit; not all witches are dark. We can all assume that Adria with her powers and knowledge knew more then well enough when the time would be to pack her stuff and leave. Seeing the new artworks of Adria in the diary she does not appear at all to be old and that may be a hint that she is probably alive and well in this timeline. If we will see her in Diablo 3 remains the questions though.

"Strange that you say that the Worldstone must be destroyed. The prophecies said nothing about that. Perhaps all we have fought for will be lost…" - Anya
I read a interview where some developer said that old NPCs from Diablo 2 AND Diablo 1 will return... So Adria will definitely show up in Diablo 3 somehow.. Maybe Leah is her daughter or something..

As the shadow once again crawls across our world...
...the stench of terror drifts on a bitter wind,
The people pray for strength and guidance ..
they should pray for the mercy of a swift death
for I have seen what the darkness hides.
actually cain is not that old, maybe in the 70's or so as old as he seems, he was young in diablo I and it wasn't even a year since the events led to diablo II, 20 years has been the biggest hope in the series, maybe a guess of him being 50 on diablo I, possibly a year or two during diablo II and 20 years later, therefore around 70 or so
Dude, he was completely bald, hunched on a staff, and had a full white beard in Diablo I. The same in Diablo II. Now, twenty years later, he still looks the same. He should be dead. Especially under the conditions, which are medieval, when most people only lived to be like 40 max.
