There is also a small chance that Diablo says "The smell of Life surrounds me."
It's rare, or at least it was, it may have been patch out, or removed prior to release. Several other characters had lines of dialog that we didn't hear, but if you have a MPQ editor you can hear them.
I never got to hear him say it; the times that I was listening anyway. For the most part I mostly played D2 with some kind of music going and all the diablo sounds turned off. I have heard the character lines though, its on youtube somewhere.
Actually you can terrorise people with mere words. Thats what bullies do. Destruction is the one that usually involves physical actions, but its also possible to destroy people through words, though that could be more considered terrorising them rather than destroying them.
To me, Diablo always seemed to be the quiet one of the Three. (Well, duh, but hear... er, read me out.) Whereas the other two may plot and make use of their massive armies and powers to intimidate, Diablo seemed to let them get all the glory while he used them and their plans as he saw fit. He would be the power behind the throne, as it were. While Mephisto is the face of the enemy, and Baal leads the armies on the battlefront, Diablo is the loner who takes matters into his own hands. Talk is for the weak; and D's all action, baby. (Wow... sounded somewhat less perverse in my mind than after I typed it... >>) While Mephisto and Baller may be self-righteous glory hogs, Diablo seeks to fulfill his role in the universe: spreader of chaos, terror and ruin.
To me, Mephisto, being the eldest, is the most concerned about tradition and "the proper way of things", which would be enforcing the Hell v Heaven schism. This is why he was most driven by an almost religious fervor as he summoned the Hell Gate; yet also would be willing to make deals with Heaven. Curiously, he is voiced by the voice actor of Aldaris from StarCraft, and Aldaris was old, traditional and dogmatic... like Meph.
Baller, being the middle brother, is a bit of an outcast and sees himself as such, and applies his genius to the mastery of the battlefield, which is where wars are truely won. Let Diablo and Mephisto manipulate and beguile all they want; in the end, they're just sitting around.
Diablo, on the other hand... well, I've dealt with him above.
It's always the quiet ones you have to look out for.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
All in the Forger's wake is left bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the dark Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.
