Ok, this is coming from how everyone is arguing about how we could be seeing one or more of the Prime Evils in their true forms without "human weakness." I'm not sure, but as I understood it from the Sin War Trilogy, the humans of sanctuary have the potential to become beings of power beyond both angels and demons, possibly even more powerful, and the worldstone, for most of the time, kept that potential latent and dampened. After Lillith tampered with it, and later Uldyssian, Humans had access to the blessings and power of their Nephalem heritage if they took the time and notice to develop it. We also know from Izual that the Prime Evil's planned their exile into Sanctuary. I always wondered why.
What if they wanted, instead of the demon bodies they had, Nephalem bodies, complete with Nephalem power and potential? Maybe that's why Baal went for the worldstone, as they could alter it, as Uldyssian had, to give them in the human hosts they had taken, more power than ever before. They'd alter it instead of destroying it so that it would enpower them, and possibly so that they could keep it from making other people powerful, and use it to make sure the angels no longer interfered of course. When Tyrael destroyed it, it wouldn't necessarily thwart their plan for power (although the Primes were dead, so that wouldn't be such a problem anyway), but it would keep the playing field slightly more level, giving humans the opportunity to rise to the occasion.
The rest of my theory rests on this assumption: That Diablo is in fact the big firey 3 mouthed from the trailer (please no debate on whether they are mouths or heads, I don't care, and it's off topic). If anyone has issues with this assumption, please argue against it on the thread provideda, not here.
Here's the jist of the theory: While when he was defeated in Tristram, Diablo kept his essence contained in the soulstone (which is why the body transformed back into Albrecht when the stone was removed) so that he could take the wanderer, when he was killed in the wanderer's body, the body didn't transform, and he kept at least some of his essence inside the body (if not all). That body at some point was ressurected (this could have happened to any/all of the Prime Evils), and with the worldstone gone, they could procede as planned, reaching new hights of power they never had in their natural forms.
With Nephalem powers, the Brother's were able to bring the heavens to their Knees. In an attempt to level the playing field, whichever angel it is that seems to be causing us trouble (whether it be Imperius, corrupted Tyrael, or Inarius even) gets Zakurum back up again (see the end of Abd al-Hazir's writings on Caldeum) to recruit up the Humans to fight this (as they are the only ones who could), fully intending to destroy those who don't help (that part isn't necessary, but I like it). The Primes counter by going in to destry/enslave the human race so that there will be no chalengers. That's about all I've got.
