I think you said yourself that duriel kinda looks like a hydralisk, maybe hes an early prototype. That would be a cool secret to hide in the two games like a puzzle, you need to know both secrets in order to make the connection maybe like a temple drawing on the wall in a diablo temple, shows up somehow in a Starcraft cut scene in a museum... meh, I'm really stretching it.
Yeah, you definitely are Like Atrumentis said, corruption and manipulation are used in nearly every story. And since the Starcraft and Diablo worlds are so comprehensive, it is only natural to find correlating creatures and concepts. But it is definitely interesting to think about.
why couldn't there be a figure that leads the heavens? or maybe 3. Personally i think the story could be manipulated in many ways because, all throughout the history of diablo it's all from what humans have heard, for instance when the idea of sanctuary was revealed by Innarius or was it Lilith? well in any case. its all from what humans were told and what they themselves have seen of the higher angels, demons and prime evils. Blizzard could twist the story any way they wanted and say its information that was kept from humans.
Diablo i think....isnt based on christianity at all but obviously takes a LOT of it's names and alludes to a few christian ideas. but thats about it. that being said. all the brothers have names for the devil. what if that ment something? what if there was no brother stronger than the otheR? and they were equal and like one in unity. and they could maybe get into a trinity for the heavens( but i mean..i doubt it lol). but thats something they could do. just because they never really revealed a lot doesnt mean they couldnt bring a God in on diablo 3.

The figures that lead Heaven are the members of the Angiris council, which are all angels.
I agree with you that Blizzard could still spin their story any way that want at this point- there's still a lot of not fully-explained figures and phenomena in Sanctuary, the Burning Hells, Heaven, and beyond.
However, I think the Diablo mythology should travel along its own path and not get intermeshed with Christianity, because eventually it would have to start preaching. I mean, if you're into Christianity, blessings to you, but for everyone else- well, it would be bad marketing, and the story would cease to be original. Get me?

Yeah, the possibility of having a 'God'-like figure that leads the Heavens can fit, but its just having a character called 'God' would be linking it in with real-world religion, and people (like Magistrate) don't really want it to happen.
And yeah, you're right, Diablo, Mephisto and Baal are like a trinity of devils that rule Hell. Which is why they are called the Prime Evils, while the Lesser Evils aren't as powerful or smart.
Just to clarify what Magistrate said, The Sin War trilogy actually revealed to us who the leaders of Heaven are, much like the leaders of Hell. As far as we know, Heaven's leaders are more like a mix of Prime and Lessers. Instead of 3 Prime and 4 Lesser, they just have 5 Archangels, who together form the Angiris Council. But yea, we don't know if there are any higher beings than the Council.
ya. theres no way they would have it named "god". blizzard never intended for it to convey a real life religious view lol. but ya, cuz theres all this information that those angels and demons dont tell humans, or that from experience, humans' own knowledge is still limited makes it kinda mysterious and makes u really wonder what the next story could be cuz it would be so easy to send it in any direction.

I just thought I would note that the Assassin also says "Godspeed", and she's not even religious. Clearly it is just a general saying thats not necessarily referring to God. I'm not sure if any of the other characters say it too. The Paladin probably does.
But he is far more likely to say a variation of The Light be with you. or The Light guide you.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
couldn't it be possible that mortals came up with the concept of a "god", and though there is no actual god, there is still the concept of an all-powerful being, which may be the reason that "godspeed" exists in the diablo universe
I hope they don't bring God into the Diablo series, nothing against God, I am Protestant myself, but I liked the seemingly useless Council or Angels in charge. Their wasn't one demon in chage of Hell, seemed only fair Heaven mirriored (to a certain extent) this.
Heavenspeed is a little long winded, and while more correct, sounds a little weird. Godspeed is quickier, and anyone who has played enough medieval fantasy epics knows they had better hurry up and do whatever it is they are suppose to be doing.
Geez! All this because Tyrael used the word godspeed?
I agree with Elfen here. Sanctuary is a blue state. God has no place here. I hope they don't bring god into Diablo either; but I can't even begin to see them doing that. Even though I am considered to be a Secular Humanist, but follow Scientific Pantheism, I have nothing against anyone's God. I do, however, prefer the Angiris Council to stand in contrast with The Three.
The word god is a noun (not a proper noun) that denotes a supreme being or deity of the masculine gender whether the religion is pagan, pantheist, deist, monotheistic, or polytheistic. Jehovah is a proper noun that denotes a specific god and religion - and the same holds true for Apollo, Zeus, Baal (the principal god of the Canaanites), and Ra (the Egyptian sun god).
Godspeed, from the middle english, is a departing well-wishing for a successful or prosperous journey. The archaic definitions of the word speed are prosperity and luck. Though, based on its origin, the god in godspeed probably does refer to the Biblical god. The semantics, however, give it the relief of generalization so that the word godspeed doesn't necessarily speak in terms of Christianity. Though I would think that the use of Inquisitors in the Diablo lore would utterly reek of it.
It's all in the semantics. It's just a friggin' word.

Technically there is a "God."

The God of Sanctuary would be Inarius since he's the one who created it, but he is certainly not one that I would worship
