Hey all, if this has been seen before then I apologize and disregard..
I found this new interview with Jay Wilson...when asked about the storyline this is what he says...(gives us a little more than what we previously had)
Kotaku: So, Jay, what can you tell us about the storyline of Diablo III? Jay Wilson: In the previous two games, Diablo and his two brothers, Mephisto and Baal, were the three Prime Evils of a world called Sanctuary. Where we start off in Diablo III, it’s twenty years later (after Diablo II: Lord of Destruction) and the brothers are gone, they’ve been vanquished. Essentially everyone was kind of geared for Hell to actually invade. At the end of Lord of Destruction, the Worldstone was destroyed, it left a giant crater and everyone was expecting the hordes to come pouring out of it and nothing happened. So, Deckard Cain is one of our main characters from the first two games, he’s spent the last two decades trying to find out where the last two Evils are, what they’re doing and why the invasion didn’t happen. A lot of the rest of the story focuses on Tyrael, the Angel of Justice, and what’s happened to him since that event as he was actually the angel who destroyed the world.
So...we know this for sure now:
1)Tyrael is a MAIN part of the story
2)The brothers are gone and should be forgotten about
3)The remaining two Evils (Belial and Azmodan) WILL be a focus
Nope, Deckard Cain might just be wasting his time, doesn't mean the other two evils are necessarily a part of the story.
Thats a good point...but this isn't the first time we have heard the developers talk about the remaining two lesser Evils...I think there is a good chance that we are going to see a good bit of them...but def dont think they will be the main antagonist...
It has been said... that in the end of all things... we would find a new beginning. But as the shadow once again crawls across our world... and the stench of terror drifts on a bitter wind... the people pray for strength and guidance. They should pray for the mercy of a swift death... for I've seen what the darkness hides!
... I don't think it's safe here.
Hoping for Pink Chain Lightning in D3!

Very ambiguous with "The other two evils" That could really be anyone.

I think this is legit. I remember either seeing this as part of the broadcast or perhaps reading it from that very site. It makes sense - Cain was there to see Diablo fall under Tristram, and then followed the Wanderer's path to the destruction of all three brothers. As the last Horadrim, he would be tasked with investigating what is happening. However, many times the developers aren't lore experts and I'm not sure who the interview was conducted with. Even during the WWI Press Conference the guy says "Im not in charge of lore" but gives a brief overview. It could be misdirection on Blizzard's part. We all pretty much knew that Belial and Azmodan would be involved, so that's a given. This civil war in Hell most likely has much to do with why the legions of Hell haven't invaded yet.
the interview was conducted with a recently employed member of the diablo 3 game, although kotaku is a pretty legitimate site, im not buying this whole new direction of just ditching the 3 prime evils, i mean is it supposed to be harder to kill lesser evils as compared to prime evils..especially how some of them are returning heroes apparently
The 20 year gap could simply be due the brothers or another evil breaking free from their birthing place, the Abyss, and trouncing all over the Lessers civil war...or the Lessers were too weak to invade and had to build up strength...or were biding their time as this older/new player demon makes his move onto the scene.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

Anyway, I hope they didn't get rid of the Three. That would really be a disappointment for me, I loved Mephisto so much...
The name of the Game would not be "Diablo 3" without Diablo,Lord of Terror as a boss otherwise It would just be lame!
INTERESTING.....
