In one of the interveiws Blizzard talks about the demons in D3 coming from a place in Sanctuary where they were once defeated but noboby knew about it, not even Cain. I believe thats where they are in the gameplay video when the Barb finds Decard Cain reading through the old books. Blizzard also said in an interview that "You're not sure its Diablo." So is that a hint that there won't even be Diablo in Diablo 3?? I believe that there Blizzard is going to have to introduce a new "Prime Evil" that has not been mentioned in any other Diablo game so far.
i think its something thats actually older then the prime evils, like you just said, they are coming from a place where the demons were once defeated, but if it is unkown/forgotten, it was most likely by demons and such that are from ages past. So... diablo's got a dada?
Very possible... Father of the 3 Brothers might explain the 3 heads, but just a thought

I think the Prime Evils only had a mother, and were birthed in the deepest pools of hell, or something to that effect. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I'm thinking, and this is just my opinion. Yeah we killed off the three brothers, sent them back to hell, SSDD. Alright, Tyrael smashes the WorldStone, taking down the barriers that kept the Burning Hells, and the High Heavens from Sanctuary. I don't think they are just going to play a part, I think they are going to play a huge part. The barrier is down, they are free to come back to Sanctuary as they please, along with every other two bit demon out there. This game is going to be massive and I can't wait.

I think it is very likely that in Diablo 3 we will be seeing some of the Three, but I believe the big issue will be that we will be seeing something way older...not a Prime or Lesser Evil...but the origin of Evil itself.
I think it's plausible that Tyrael is corrupted. Especially with the line on the D3 site saying failing luminaries of heaven. Maybe of the thousands of shards that were flying about, one held just enough of Baal's corrupting essence to qualify as a soulstone. And said stone happened to bury itself in Tyrael. It been 20 years, how much corruption could Baal have done in that time?
Tyrael had Baals soulstone at the end of the game...
I was at the lore panel of the WWI, basicaly, what they said :
" You'll have to count the prime evil dead, disappeared, and still alive and unseen to have an idea of what you can expect, you might see some new faces, and others"
" Concerning diablo's return, I can't tell you anything about his return without going deeper into the storyline, which I can't talk about, anyway, it's not because it's called " Diablo" that you'll see diablo in the game."
WTF is that question? I was there because I paid a ticket for the worldwide invitational and because I wanted to hear the dev on the " lore " pannel of Diablo III, sunday 29 at 10:00 o'clock...
Lol
I meant are you affiliated with any sites etc. I understand now that you went simply as a fan
That is sweet though, wish I could have gone but I live in California, Blizzcon is supposed to be in LA though so I'm looking forward to that!

I'm sorry but I'm a little confused as to what you are trying to say...are you saying the Prime Evils are alive or dead?
I understand that but the wording used made it unclear on what the developers want us to think.
"You can count the prime evil dead" sounds like they are saying that we won't see them...but the right after that is says "disappeared, still alive and unseen"
Are the developers trying to tell us to just forget about the prime evils in this game?
Well, they did not say it as I say it, but more along the line " defeated, dissapeared" etc...
Yeahh. But then D3 takes place 20 years later, so we don't know what they did that whole time exactly, except Belial took over hell and him and Azmodan defeated Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal.
While Tyrael apparently was completely off on his own somewhere?

I've said this many times. Belial and Azmodan are currently in control of hell. The Prime Evils are disbanded for now. Until they can find their way out of the abyss they will not make a return. Even if they did make a return I think belial or azmodan would be able to dispatch them.

How do we KNOW the Prime Evils are disbanded for now?
And if they really are in the abyss, I think the Worldstones destruction might offer a pretty good reason for their return...
I think we will see them in some form or the other...but I don't think they will be our main goal this game. Belial and Azmodan would be cool, but making two Lesser Evils the main goal of the game seems anti-climatic.
I think he's just being ambiguous enough to give the entire fanbase a headache personally.

Maybe Tyreal also went to the Abyss...
Hence us not seeing him for 20 years at all :D?
Is the Abyss not part of the Burning Hells? When the worldstone was destroyed as I understood it the barriers between heaven and sanctuary and hell and sanctuary are pretty much gone.. Couldn't they come back?

Maybe in some form of Limbo?
