and Mephisto couldn't corrupt khalim so... some people cant be corrupted, that doesn't mean that the majority of people aren't easy to corrupt. Corruption is easy to perform on those who have nothing. Show them what they desire and offer them a choice. Is that so hard?
Yes I'm pretty sure we can ALL turn a christian church to worship Satan, as you have rightfully stated. Diablo couldnt fully corrupt 1 deeply religous person, where Mephisto on the other hand, corrupted the inhabitants including the high priests, priests, and other deeply religous folk AKA Zakarum except for one, Khalim

Baal also decimated the entire northern reaches of Sanctuary, besieged Harrogath, and destroyed the other fortresses. He also managed to convert Nihlithak so that he would bring him the Relic of the Ancients.
Oh, yes, and don't forget both Baal and Diablo fought Tyrael and left him locked up in Tal Rasha's Chamber. (Baal literally ripped the Azure Wrath from Tyrael's hands, lol.)

yea but Nihlithak was a necromancer and there are evil necros so getting a deal with one really isn't hard if u know that one is already corrupted, and he was remember he didn't sacrifice himself to protect the town and that was before Baal even got there...

someone once said "Corruption has spread, even to mans best friend"

Yea, its pretty easy for the Prime Evils.
But you see I will win this convo cause I'm not biased towards one evil, as your avatar clearly shows. Maybe Diablo cant corrupt people as well as Mephisto, but there is no doubt in my mind that Diablo could kick his skinny skeleton ass. He mobilized the takeover of sanctuary with only a fragment of soulstone to his name. Baal on the other hand is only good at making war. Diablo is equal parts Baal and Mephisto, so he is either equal or better (the sum is greater than the parts).
Mephisto is good at corrupting people with hate.
Baal is good at destroying things.
Diablo is decent at both, which makes him terrifying.
It is true that Diablo is the strongest, but not necessarily true that he is the most evil. The question in the poll asks who is most evil, not who is strongest, so me pointing out that Diablo is the strongest was quite pointless lol (except that people started bringing in strength into the debate, which does not belong).
I voted that Mephisto is the most evil, because he is the eldest. But really, how do you measure evil? What is the criteria?

Your're assuming however that it was faith that kept Diablo from managing to compelte his work. I say that is not the case; faith would not have been the only criteria in detemining whether or not a person can be corrupted.

I didn't think of that when I posted it; personally I just thought of who i thought was the most insidious and wicked. I think that's what I was thinking at least, I can't recall
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
yeah, 'hatred' being the most evil makes sense. That seems to be what Blizzard was thinking too, (or whoever the real mastermind was), because they chose Hatred to be the 'first born'. First borns in fiction seem to resemble their parents the most.
Also, talking in the Diablo universe, whoever created Heaven and Hell chose Hatred to be first on purpose.
Are the Prime Evils the spawn of Lilith? I don't think its stated anywhere, but she is the mother of all demons. She also revived them for the pandemonium event, I think it was an act of compassion on her part. So in that case Lilith would be the most evil.

There is no way Lilith is the mother of the Three. Seeing as how "brother" isn't actually meant in the biological sense, I doubt mother is either.

No, Lilith is the Mother of all Succubi, not demons. Lilith is Mephisto's daugther, and Andariel is Lilith's daughter. Facts got a bit confused there, I see.
So Lilith is a semiprime evil? I haven't read the sin war trilogy ><. If we are talking in traditional terms I'd say that the Price of Pain is the most evil. Hate? meh. Destruction? meh. Terror? meh. But Pain? That is something real, something that destroys the mind and the body. There is no better way to persuade.
Pain is physical though. Sure, it can hurt, but if you have a strong mind you can just ignore pain. Though yeah, there is also mental pain, but that is usually in the form of anguish or sorrow or other things. And the Angels can certainly inflict pain just as much as the demons.
Earlier on in this thread I had a cool quote that said something about Hate being the prime negative emotion, that all other negatives stem from Hatred. You hate them then terrorise them. You hate them then destroy them. It gives reason. Then again, terror and destruction without reason is more evil.
lol, there is no end to this debate, which is why I just stick to order of birth.
We don't know where Lilith ranks in relation to the Great Evils yet, but yeah, she seems to be between prime and lesser.
We have yet to distinguish Duriel's past, maybe he was supposed to be the fourth prime evil but they disowned him because he was a big blithering idiot
There are some key differences legs, head size, teeth, duriel is like 3x the size.... but yea, they have a similar design. Duriel would kick a hydralisks ass no problem though.

I always thought Duriel had the best corpse:)
Don't forget about all the maggots that crawl out afterwards
Why are maggots associated with pain? Death, sure (cause decaying things attract flies which lay maggots), but what do they have to do with pain? You have to be alive to feel pain. Though I suppose you could feel pain for the loss of a loved one - but he seems more like physical pain than mental pain.
Hmm. Mephisto was able to corrupt the Zakarum faith, and it's... What was it, six or seven highest figures?
Baal eventually managed to win over Tal Rasha, granted, he probably would not have been freed at that point in time except for Marius.
Diablo corrupted an Arch Bishop, seemingly not as impressive as Mephisto's opening salvo. Then once semi-free of his soulstone he began work on Leoric, while not strong enough (At the moment) to corrupt him, he did turn the once proud King into a husk of a man, nothing like he was before.
But the crown jewel of Diablo's acts of power, and evil in a way, is the corruption of the very man who was powerful enough in mind and body to defeat him in single combat. A man with a sword, shield and armor, able to defeat the undeniably powerful Lord of Terror, armed with his namesake, his immense demonic form, his destructive magic, etc.
For Diablo to take the soul, and everything he once was, of his enemy, for his own uses, seems a bit more impressive than what the others have done. And you have to say, had Mephisto been under Tristram, and Diablo under Kurast, the outcome probably would've been similar.
And take a look at this, from the Diablo I manual, something that interests me.
"Diablo entered the nightmares of the Arch Bishop, and lured him into the dark, subterranean labyrinth. In his terror, Lazarus raced throughout the abandoned hallways until he at last came to the chamber of the burning Soulstone. No longer in command of his body or spirit, he raised the stone above his head and uttered words long forgotten in the realm of mortals. His will destroyed, Lazarus shattered the Soulstone upon the ground. Diablo once again came into the world of Man."
Now, was the Soulstone glued back together or something? Or was the gem that pierced the skull of Albrecht and the Wanderer just a shard of it?
Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about the lore can explain that bit, else I'll go out of my mind during the night, thinking that maybe some crackpot sorcerer finds some fragments of the stone or something.
Or... What would happen if you put the Soulstone of Diablo, whole thing, shards or otherwise, into a demon, or even, Lesser Evil?
