But I must say, the girls here are all cool. I haven't had any problems with any of them.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Though with the Prime Evils all being male. and not having a mother, then by the above logic, err somewhat, then wouldn't Lilith be the most evil? She is the mother of demons.
But as this thread primarily concerns the Prime Evils, I shall get back on topic for a second.
-Baal is another name for Beelzebub, which is another name for Lucifer, which is another name for Satan. The most evil creature.
-Mephisto is derived from Mephistopheles, which is another name for Lucifer, which is another name for Satan. The most evil creature.
-Diablo is spanish for Devil, The Devil is another name for Satan. The most evil creature.
Ok that was kinda lame.

Not lame, I hadn't made the connections that they all have to Satan. Which is why I think they should add their father in or something and have actually be Satan, like add a huge backstory to it dealing with the true lord of evil.
God and Satan (or any other name he is known by) do not exist in Sanctuary, despite the fact Heaven (The High Heavens) and Hell (The Burning Hells) do.
And I think that's good. I don't mind having biblical references in Diablo, but I think it's cool that the angelic and demonic Hierarchies are structured differently from Judeo-christianity.
Diablo lore states the Prime Evils were born out of chaos. and destroying their soulstones sends their essences back the the black abyss where they came from.

Exactly.. If they came out once they can do it again. Only way to get rid of them is to get rid of hell.
Anyways, well you're right about the whole no god no satan thing, but I still think having one master evil behind all three of them would be a really cool addition. It doesn't particularly have to be "satan" but I think Blizz is creative enough to do it without seeming cliche or corney.
But they are the Prime Evils. Prime, derived from the latin word Primus meaning superior, best, first. I'd rather Blizzard not go in the, for lack of a better phrase or word, the Dragon Ball Z route. every 5 weeks someone stonger than the supposed strongest bad guy in the world shows up.
I like having the Prime Evils as exactly that, the Prime Evils.

Remember though that terror/fear isn't unique to Diablo.
"Even archangels want those who worship them to fear them just a little bit. Otherwise, why would they choose such fearsome forms and act the way they do?" (The Black Road)
But yeah, Elfen is definitely right, the Prime Evils are kind of like the one 'satan' split into three - equally evil, just in different ways.
Ultimately I would have to vote Baal as I believe firmly that in order to have Terror or Hatred, Destruction must be present. I see Destruction as the primary basis of Terror. And Destruction being the outcome of Hatred.
I think in nature it is normal to find destruction and terror. Things fall apart, earthquakes and volcaones happen, etc. And terror is also found in nature. Animals can be afraid of other animals. But I don't think animals actually hate other animals. Humans seem to hate other humans, though. Still I say Mephisto is the purest of evil, while the other two Prime Evils are means to Mephisto's end.
"Diablo, perhaps the most feared, the ultimate manifestation of terror, the nightmare not only of children but of veteran warriors who had already seen the horrors men themselves could produce. Diablo it had been who had gazed most at bright Ureh from his monstrous domain, who had most been offended by its glorious existence. Order could be brought forth from the chaos created by Baal, and the hatred of Mephisto could be mastered by anyman with strength, but to have no fear of fear itself—such a thing Diablo could not believe and would not stand." (Kingdom of Shadow)

And neither is destruction. Hatred though seems to be something the High Heavens do not utilize.

It's an interesting quote to be sure. It all goes down to being stronger than the prime. If you are powerful enough you will not be destroyed. If you are strong in the mind, you will not hate. If you are courageous enough, you will not fear. Or rather perhaps, you will not allow fear to affect you, just as you prevent hatred and destruction from affecting you.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
They are all the equal points of an equalateral triangle of EVIL.
Seriously, I don't think one is more evil then the other. Heck, I don't think any of them are more evil then any other evil or demon for that matter.
It isn't like when Baal killed the Barbarian ruler the other evils were shocked or couldn't believe he did that. Evil is a measure of your willingness to visit evil upon other beings. I don't think any of the primes, or other demons, is any more willing then the others to do evil to other beings.
I mean do you honestly see Baal doing something to win the war and Mephisto saying, no you can't do that, that would be going too far. No.
Now, if you are simply trying to formulate a "" "" power structure among them. I would put them in this setup.
King/Supreme Dictator for life-Mephisto
General-Diablo
Court Wizard-Baal
I mean seriously, it seems that Meph is the one pulling the strings here. He was also far more successful then the other 2 at corrupting and taking over his area from inside the soul stone. He is also the one ordering Diablo into Hell. I assume he sent Baal on his quest, though I have no real clue as to that.
Also, of the 3, his name is the only one that is an actual name for "The Devil", "Satan", "Lucifer" whomever.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"Fool! You have just ensured the doom of this world. You cannot even begin to imagine what you've set in motion this day. Go to the Temple of Light, in the eastern ciry of Kurast. There you will find the gate to Hell opened before you. You must find the courage to step through that gate Marius. Take the stone you hold to the Hellforge, where it will be destroyed. Now run! Take the stone and run!"
