I've heard many various stories.. But im Sticking to my own.. Yes Tyreal is the next prime evil. But remember that the soulstone had been corrupted by Baal. Also, i think a peice of it hit him, corrupted tyreal.. Made him evil and revived the 3 prime evils,
Mephy, Diablo, and baal
its tyreal bc if u notice his never around when u needed him n he let u kill baal by urself so im guessin baal wanted to destroy the worldstone but tyreal cursed it or somthin n he couldnt so he was w8in for u but then u killd him n now tyreal has all the power :D.... thats my story
me and a few good online friends have actually created a whole storyline complete with characters and skills before for a diablo 3, but i wont ppost it cause i threw it all away xD.. anyway, what we decided is that heaven is trying to destroy the earth, and hell alongside it (one cant exist without the other, right?) anyway, we decided that heaven is trying to destroy the earth, and that in diablo three, cain turns tail and spills to the player about heaven, before dying, and you turn to the soulstone (after all, you haven't destroyed baal's yet, right?) and you revive him. with his help, you go on a quest to revive diablo and mephisto, alongside you get andariel as an assistance, duriel, and have a very comic battle alongside pindleskin and wirt. anyway, the idea is, if the worldstone is destroyed, the earth is doomed right? so you're on a mission to get supplies to forge (see smith and hellforge miniboss) and enchant a new worldstone, happiness for all!
From what I last remember reading - the Heavens were upset with Tyrael intervening to capture and imprison the Prime Evils. Now why would they shun that?
What if tyreal is actually being controlled by heaven and or hell to destroy the world. maybe the world is the only way for demons to get to heaven (heaven controlling him) or maybe destroying the world opens hell a direct link to heaven for an attack. Either way makes for an interesting chain of events and dual playability. No resurection of old deadies besides diablo (just because hes always been there) Or maybe jsut meet diablo in game.
Tyrael is released from the grip of his controler after he destroys the worldstone and saves a few human heroes to go to heaven/hell to try to find a way to reverse the effects and or maybe defeat the other side.
i dont kno if id want the heaven side to win nor the hell side, if the games storyline is about heaven and hell, i wouldnt really pick a side.
O.O OMG!!! MMORPG possibility thar! heaven vs. hell, all out pvp warfare!
ok, so it wouldn't be diablo, but it'd still be fun, right?
also, in response to the question about the hero's skills, what we thought up would be a much more demonic set of skills. the druid would become a demonic summoner, someone devoted to his familiar (think golem necro), using fire based spells (less natural feeling, more evil like), and being able to transform into demonic creatures (pit lords, etc.). the necromancer would be relatively the same (they're evil enough) but the paladin would become a dark knight. no more defencive auras, instead he'd have enchantments. that way, you'd have the offencive auras and a few buffs on him (yes, the enchantments could be cast on other party members), instead of fist of heaven, he'd have fist of hell, and all his skills would have a more evil feeling (lightning becomes fire, unholy bolt, hammer would have to be made somethin else, donno what yet though). the sorceress would need new skills, but could be made on the same premise, as well as the barbarian and assasin. the amazon though is a tricky one. just generally give them all a more evil feeling!
I kind of cringe at the thought of a Diablo MMORPG. But what I did like about Warcraft and Starcraft, that I thought would be interesting if Diablo adopted, were different campaigns for different forces. They could either be linear, or the kind that has one of two outcomes depending on who you side with.
how bout this, the whole earth is just a side note, heaven doesnt care, hell is still technically being run by those 2 lesser demons, the brothers just happened to be on earth so they were using it as a staging ground for their agenda in the heaven hell war. tyreal is the only angel who gives a crap about the humans, but by destroying the worldstone he brought the earth into the same plane of existance as heaven and hell, so now it is being used as a battleground in the heaven hell war, so you as a character can choose a side and fight

I agree with you that Heaven doesn't care about Sanctuary (for the most part, anyway). I think a reason why Hell is interested in Sanctuary is because Hell is more intuitive toward the nature of the universe and they recognize mortals and their world as either something they can consume and be more powerful or perhaps to assimilate mortals into what a demon already is for creating something more powerful. Perhaps I got this idea from reading Birthright when they talk about the Nephilim. That theory could be more than loosely connected to what I'm talking about.
But all that aside, the powers of the High Heavens seem far too aloof toward innovation and change. And they see mortals as mere blips that will disappear in a relative blink of an eye.
But I really don't see how the destruction of the Worldstone would bring Sanctuary to the same plane of existence, unless you want to think of the Worldstone as an anchor for a corporeal realm. It's interesting how probably no other topic in Diablo has created more conjecture and controversy than the Worldstone. But I still think if the destruction of it would've have caused what you suggest, then it would've happened instantly. As if a horde of demons being kept at bay by the protection of the Worldstone, and its destruction would've instantly made them flood into the world and begin consuming it immediately.
Mephy, Diablo, and baal
Yeah he is lol:D
