although their are many different theories on the effects of the destruction of worldstone it is agreed that its destruction will play a large role in the storyline of d3 so here we can discuss any theories people wish to share.
The whole purpose of the worldstone was to keep the realms of the heaven/hell and the sanctuary separate..so no doubt with the worldstone destroyed these realms will merge...but i beleave that their has to be something else besides keeping the realms apart(and keeping the power of the nephalem in check..i doubt this will come into play)that the worldstone does...because was that not was baal was attempting to achieve when he corrupted the world stone to merge hell and the sanctuary..well if thats all he wanted why didnt he just destroy the worldstone it would have been easier...and if a corrupted worldstone and a destroyed one have the same outcome why did tyreal destroy it in the first place what was the point??
It also hindered the true power of the Nephalem. Without the Worldstone, people throughout the world of Sanctuary may become as powerful as their ancient ancestors.
Because, it has been stated several times in the game that no one, not even Tyrael could foresee what would come from the Worldstone's destruction. Malah herself said that if no one could foresee the outcome, who's to say that it couldn't be a good outcome?

It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
Although it originated in theatre, where conventional three-walled stage sets provide a more literal "fourth wall", the term has been adopted by other media, such as cinema, television, comics, and video games to more generally refer to the boundary between the fiction and the audience.
And:
The term "breaking the fourth wall" in theatre generally means when a character is showing his/her awareness of the audience.
The idea that a character in the Diablo universe would know that Blizzard would know the outcome to their own game is...at its core...breaking the fourth wall.
