Classic Barbarian hands down, I've made maybe over 40 barbarians there during all these years. And barbarian was at its best before LOD to be more accurate, well this goes for all classes pretty much but anyways before 1.10 barbs were my favourite because 1.10 didn't bring anything for a WW barb, but the monsters got more HP and they reduced leech by a lot which made playing a barb not so fun.
It's just so fun after work/school to pick your barb and go whirlwind somewhere.. thats just so relaxing.

lol necros were best right when synergies were introduced btw
it's damage is comparable to light traps it's just that instead of 1-10k you get 4.8k-5k.
average damage is still 5k.
however, fire traps aren't good alone for two different reasons:
1. wake of inferno is bugged in its pathing so that it doesnt hit moving targets..
2. there's tons of fire immunes in hell
however wake of fire is a great skill. it just blankets the floor, great for stunlocking people in pvp because it hits so rapidly and so hard to get out of.
and for pvm a light/fire trap build is just as fast or faster than a pure light build for rushing/mfing/baaling. ( i honestly prefer light/fire in some situations)
so anyway just wanted to set that straight. fire traps own nightmare.. it's hell that they have issues with due to immunities, as is the case with all fire builds.

10x 16k light traps will never be as fast at killing baal, for instance, as a 61k lightning sorc.
but a lightning sorc doesn't have the versatility and crowd control that an assassin does.
(light sorc can't do ubers for instance when that same assassin could using kick and a change of gear)
and lastly i agree with you also that burst rocks and the melee asasssin skills are the most fun, but melee (of all classes) sort of got the shaft in 1.10.
maybe 1.13 will help that.

Barb used to be my favorite back in the day however just recently I played on hardcore for the first time as a summon/werebear druid and I loved it. Between my summons killing almost everything, including all the pesky mobs that just annoy you as you try to attack them and the fact that I myself was a tank and could take damage. With necro you couldn't take any damage yourself and I wanted to kill myself at some points trying to attack the leapers in Act2 and the fetishes from Act3 as the barb. It was the perfect balance for me.

druids builds can be annoying at times though in between the summons being stupid or being swarmed by small things like soul dolls lol
Assassin, her abilities were so much more fun than any of the other classes.
Loved the dragon flight ability, it added so much mobility to her, along with a pretty badass damage dealing ability ^^.
Was fun as shit in duels too, can't count how many people got pissed off when I kicked them from a screen away...

Barbarian/Werebear/Werewolf. I soloed ubers with all of them and never died. I can build them uniquely and not a lot of people use these characters. Besides they're just awesome tanks, just great. Making a werewolf and getting rich with it in ladder is the best thing ever.

yeah its gotta be the necro. first class i ever made. also poison nova necros are so good, heaps underrated. dont see nearly enough of them i had one 2 seasons ago who did 13k poison nova dmg but also had about -120% enemy poison res thru items and 'lower resist'. If i remember correctly he did like 130k poison explosion lol. and it was always good fun using him in pvp, having an army of skeletons and revives around you acting as a shield, then when the other player trys to duel you they think "oh a summoner, this should be easy" then when they get close, spam 1 nova, drops their life straight down to 1hp so they try and run back to town but then the aura from the fire golem kills them before they can make it back haha.
also summoner n boners are extremely good if made well. other really really good chars would have to be wind druids and sorcs (max energy shield with insane mana is the best).
Barbarian/Werebear/Werewolf. I soloed ubers with all of them and never died. I can build them uniquely and not a lot of people use these characters. Besides they're just awesome tanks, just great. Making a werewolf and getting rich with it in ladder is the best thing ever.
