I've played through D1 more times than I can remember. It is pretty much my favorite game of all time, but after a while, even it can get a little boring.
In order to deal with this, I've started trying to do little meta games within D1, to make it harder, or more interesting. Some simple ones are cross building characters, like making a sorcerer go through the game, without using any spells only melee (or Ranged) attacks.
But my favorite one, and by far the hardest thing I've tried in any game for a while, is to beat the game without ever returning to town, except to turn in Lazarous' staff. I've not been able to do it yet. I've made it to around level 12 with a warrior before I ran out of HP pots and was just getting mauled by magma demons. I made it to level 14 with a rogue, but it was filled with Blood Knights and some variant of the snake creatures and I just couldn't get enough space to kill them in the opening of the level. I was also treating this like D2 hardcore mode, so i just stopped playing once I died on these characters.
So what are your favorite games within the game? What have you tried and succeeded or failed at?
Ah, the iron man run... (never returning to town)
Used to absolutely love that shit.
The iron man run is still definitely my favorite, kudos to whoever created it, it used to be HUGE on battlenet. Sad to say it's lost it's appeal though. Never succeeded at it by myself, only ever on b-net.

"One in every 10 million people can potentially have a headache from this pill." God forbid she is the 0.000000001% of having a headache.
I was playing D1 this weekend at a small LAN, and came up with a new meta game: See how many times you can get away with blowing the warrior up with fireball and blame it on "Bad Aim" The real trick, is then owning everyone in CoD:4 later in the evening, and proclaiming: "I got my aim back!!!!" Ahh the wonders of geeks and alcohol mixing.
Haha, yay for us sysops.
We're definitely owning this thread :D.
Haha, Dauroth that was definitely one of my favorite things to do in Oblivion, as well ^^.
I'd always hack the shit out of my character with the console to make him able to jump onto buildings, then sneak around and do all kinds of badass vampire shit. Which mainly consisted of slaughtering entire towns.

might have more chances if u play the 'proper' method of having 1 warrior, 1 rogue, and 1 sorceror together at the same time

Ugh, sorcerer would be a pain in that group. I guess he can just use charged staves for most of his spells, but you're probably better off giving the mana pots to the warrior to use as fuel for the self heal spell.
If i'm going to ironman it on multiplayer, just go with all rogues and 1 warrior. Pray you can get enough bows to fuel all the rogues, and that they don't plink your warrior too much
